heard it has poor manuvering on the road esp on top speed...

but all dis names and reviews are from illiterate/uninformed Nigerians..

we just give cars names without checking the reviews or giving it a test drive.

the first time i was driven in one of these cars... i was actually impressed bcuz i didnt think anything good will come from the car bcuz of road side lies abut it..but i was wrong.

and bcuz of this name.. the car has a very bad re-sale value... 1999-2002 models even sell better.

My 2 cents

Not necessarily

@op it is called big for nothing because

1. It has a very boring dashboard
2. It gets disfigured easily when hit or scratched
3. This is the main reason. The engine was poorly built and it get spoil easily. You can change the engine up to 3times in a year.

Thus the name, big for nothing. Please take these names seriously as they use it to describe cars so you know before you buy

Unnecessarily bogus......... Too much space both interior and the boot. The engine fails anyhow. Toyota forgot the adage "Too much of everything is bad" when they were designing this car. In fact the designer needs 12 strokes of cane.

Have you ever used any toyota/Scion with 2AZ-FE?
if YES, then tell me your Experience.
If NO, then quit speaking ignorantly!

FIY, I own a 2003 Highlander (which is basically a Big for Nothing Camry in SUV shape) with 2AZ-FE engine its been running for over 12 years on stock engine and transmission since it was produced. It hasn't lost the factory manufactured engine before.
I know folks who have been running Big 4 Nothing for long as I can recall and they use it as a daily car and travel car not even an engine lost.
@ OP, the Camry XV30 (2002-2006) AKA Big for nothing is one of the best Camry ever produced its built like a tank!

Aljharem, STOP spreading lies from hell

the last video is not real its an arabian game with physical simulation controls called lfs,

though the arabs have what they do too kill boredom with cars they call it hagwalah while some call it drifting but its nothing close to drifting, its a situation where by they speed up to 220kmph or minimum of 170kmph and they steer left and right with there and handbrakes too in helping them swerv ,looks fun too watch but very risky

Any car without good handling can't attempt such. I've heard and read where folks say Toyotas can't do 160km/hr conveniently I laugh at them. If a toyota in S. Arabia, UAE and other places could attain 220km/hr what's there to prove?
Last week, I was with my oga Emperoh, he told me something which got me slightly shocked yet proved a point. He said his ES330 is heavy, he said he have attained the speed of *** km/hr on Murtala Mohammed Expressway AKA Kubwa-AYA expressway. I drove his car to Bwari back alleys, it felt balanced and nice but I couldn't push it hard SUV style driving had spoilt my driving style besides, it was getting dark and I did not use my glasses.

Truth, Toyota may be bland, boring staid, but its an over kill for one to vilify them.

Debatable. Since looks are subjective, I'll go with you on this one.

This is true of any car, not just the Camry. Does any car look good with scratches or dents? Your claim here is unsubstantiated.

Really? If this were the case, the Camry would NOT be one of the top sellers in its class in North America. The United States is the land of litigation. If the engine was as bad as you state, there would be Class Action lawsuits on an HOURLY basis.

Anyone who has to replace the engine in their car thrice annually, even in the cheapest and most basic car, is a morön. They need to look at their "mechanics" and themselves, in terms of maintenance and driving habits.

Your assertion the Camry engine is "poorly built", and "gets spoilt easily" is as baseless and empty as a hole in a wall. You have NO engineering background, and know NOTHING about an automobile, otherwise you wouldn't have made this statement. I challenge you to trawl the Internet, dig up all the proof you can to back up your claim, and I'll apologise to you, and eat humble pie.

I'm not a fan of this particular Toyota Camry, but simply because I don't like the shape. Nothing else, and I would NOT castigate it. Have I driven this particular model? No. So I can't criticise it based on mechanicals and electrical system. Have I driven the 1997-2001 models? Yes. And I could NOT fault them. To be a good critic, you have to be impartial, which clearly YOU are not.

What the hell are people saying on this thread? This Camry has the same reliability and ruggedity of the pencil light Camry it replaced. It has quieter cabin and better suspensions which gives better overall driving. The only reason it is called big for nothing is its size and very very bland dashboard.

toyota are nice vehicles, i swear, boring aside, they are well built

even that small Yaris will always get to its maximum speed 200kmph without flying,

those speeds are meant for people with big balls not small minds thats why they put the blames on the car, about not being stable,

on Nigerian roads, running this ride at those speeds may be risky, but I believe oyinbo wey do am knows it can survive at that speed but those japs cars especially the CUVS and mid size SUVs/space bus start to get lighter at 120km/h

I know it ain't that fast compared to what some cars can do. But with that rpm close to the red line, i can imagine the road noise, I won't feel comfortable. That's just me.

I think Nigerians had been used to being crammed into tiny little econosedans for so long- so when the 2003 camry came along with its extra space, everyone screamed 'Blasphemy!' The slab sided profile + plain Jane looks didnt help matters either.

I wonder what will happen when people start importing the Lincoln Town Car
