Nigeria's dominance over South Africa is so much that they have already conceded defeat on this one. Their coming is jst to honour the fixtures. grin
No I don't think so. When it comes to Women football, S/Africa can't just be a walk over in this era Sir.

We will still beat them, but I still expect them to give us a good run for our money.

The Falconets defeated them 2:1 and 1:0 respectively, but it was a hard fought game in both encounters.

That tells you that the game (Women Football) is really growing in S/Africa.

'Flamingoes good against Confluence'

Bala Nkiyu © thenff.com

by Humphrey Njoku
Flamingoes head coach, Bala Nkiyu has said his charges were impressive against Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) side, Confluence Queens.

The Nigeria’s U-17 women side defeated Confluence Queens 2-1 in Thursday’s test match at the training pitch of the Abuja National Stadium.

The national side used the friendly clash as part of their preparations for the upcoming 2016 Fifa U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifying match against the South African opposite in March.

Nkiyu said no player attain 100% perfection in a match but added that his side exuded confidence to deliver the goods at the appointed time.

“They played quite well though there is still room for improvement which is more or less the essence of the friendly match.

“Of course, we do not expect 100% perfection almost immediately we have noticed some flaws to work on.

“We will continue to work on the finishing touches until we get it right before matchday against the South Africans.

“Confluence Queens gave us quality challenge, they proved their worth as Premiership side, they are good, experienced and matured.

“I have no doubt that the U-17 side will give the South Africans a good fight for a place at the 2016 Fifa U-17 Women’s World Cup in Jordan,” said the former Niger Tornadoes coach to supersport.com.

The Nigerians will host the South Africans in the first leg of two-legged final qualifying match in the weekend of March 11-13 in Abuja while the reverse fixture will hold in fortnight in Johannesburg.

Nikyu seeks more friendly games for Flamingoes after Confluence Queens win

The Flamingoes gaffer desires more quality warm up games to get his side well prepared for their South Africa date after narrow friendly match win in Abuja on Thursday

By Samuel Ahmadu

Nigeria U17 women team coach Bala Nikyu has appealed to the Nigeria Football Federation for more friendly games after 2-1 win over Confluence Queens in Abuja on Thursday.

Goals from Cynthia Aku and Yetunde Fajobi helped the national team side saw off the Women Premier League side.

Nikyu admitted they were only lucky grinding out victory against the highly rated elite club side, stressing that the game gave his side a big test.

"I'm happy for this game (against Confluence Queens). It gave us a good opportunity to access ourselves," Nikyu told Goal.

"We have lot of areas to improve upon and that's what we want to keep doing to ensure we qualify for the World Cup.

"All we can appeal for is more quality friendly matches that will help our players improve better before we face South Africa," he concluded.

Flamingoes will travel to Johannesburg to face South Africa on March 11 with the return leg billed for Abuja on March 25.

Flamingos will ambush Bantwana- Coach Nikyu

By Joshua Odeyemi

The U-17 Women National Team, Flamingos are well prepared to earn a victory over visiting Bantwana of South Africa in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup final round, first leg qualifying match coming up at the National Stadium, Abuja on Saturday, March 12, the team coach has said.

Head Coach of the team, Bala Nikyu who led the Class of 2014 to the quarter –finals of the World Cup in Costa Rica, gave this assurance while speaking after the team’s evening training session on Monday.

“Since resuming camp on February 7, we have been doing a lot of work and I am very happy with the way everything has gone. I am happy there are no injury worries apart from one that happened few days ago, but the player is fine now.

"We have been working on our past mistakes and rectifying them, and I believe we will go out there and do the country proud on Saturday,” he assured.

The Flamingos pummeled Namibia’s Baby Gladiators 9-0 on aggregate in the second round of the qualifying series, winning 4-0 in Abuja and 5-0 in Windhoek.

Captain of the team, Rasheedat Ajibade is also confident that with the high spirit in camp, the girls will deliver on their promise to qualify for the World Cup finals, slated for Jordan in October this year.

Nigeria has never failed to qualify for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup since its inception in 2008.

So far, only four countries are through to the final competition of this year’s edition, namely Jordan (the hosts), Japan, Korea Republic and New Zealand.

U-17 W/Cup Qualifier: Agumanu-Chiejine Confident Flamingoes Will Beat S/Africa

By Izuchukwu Okosi:

Assistant coach of Nigeria's U-17 women national side, Ann Agumanu-Chiejine, has told Completesportsnigeria.com that the team is in good shape and ready to beat "boastful" South Africa in Saturday's 2016 FIFA Women U-17 World Cup qualifier.

The game will hold at the Abuja National Stadium and kickoff time is 4pm.

"South Africa see us as rivals in football, especially in the women's game. They are just mouthing of coming to Nigeria to shock us and get a positive result. Our camp is okay, the girls are in great shape and we are ready to beat South Africa," Agumanu-Chiejine, a former Abia Queens coach told Completesportsnigeria.com.

The coach who has been appointed as goalkeepers' trainer on interim basis, to work with another former Super Falcons star Florence Omagbemi in the senior women national team would not speak on the new job handed to them, but insisted that the team's concentration is on Saturday's game.

She added: "We have not started the Super Falcons job, so the concentration for me is on this weekend's game. We have to qualify for the U-17 World Cup. I guess my full focus will be on the senior team once the U-17 assignment is done."

Meanwhile head coach of the South African U-17 Women's national team Maude Khumalo is excited at the prospects of playing against Nigeria's U-17 national women's team.

The South African team, Completesportsnigeira.com learned will arrive Nigeria on Tuesday(today).

"We have just finished our final training session ahead of our trip to Abuja on Tuesday. Playing against Nigeria has never been an easy task, but we are up for the challenge. We are not going to put too much pressure on the girls because this will be their first ever international match after Zambia pulled out in the previous round," Khumalo is quoted as saying by allafrica.com.

"We are going to Nigeria with a positive attitude. We will keep the players motivated and we want them to learn as much possible from this encounter ahead of the return leg in a fortnight's time."

The U-17 FIFA Women's World Cup will take place in Jordan from 30 September to 21 October 2016.

Fifa unveils 2016 U20 Women’s World Cup logo

Fifa U20 Women's World Cup logo

By Shina Oludare

The world football body has revealed the logo for the 2016 U20 Women’s World Cup which will take place in Papua New Guinea
The Federation of International Football Association (Fifa) has revealed the logo for the 2016 U20 Women’s World Cup to be hosted by Papua New Guinea.

The official emblem and slogan for the competition was unveiled in an event held at the Laguna Hotel in Port Moresby.

The logo connects Papua New Guinean culture to the tournament by utilising the recognisable shape of the official trophy of the Fifa U-20 Women’s World Cup as a canvas, and incorporating the country’s heritage and nature through a range of design and colour elements.

For the slogan, it was created in order to inspire and empower young women across Papua New Guinea. “To Inspire, To Excel” encapsulates the ultimate goal of the event, which is to use football as a platform to push for gender equality in a traditional male-dominated culture.

Along with the official emblem and slogan, the official Look for the tournament was also released, which takes graphic elements from traditional Papua New Guinean designs. It is a flexible asset that visually connects all parts of the tournament, from the event materials to stadium dressing and across various other platforms.

"With Papua New Guinea hosting this important tournament for the first time, we are thrilled to see the excitement and enthusiasm that this year’s Fifa U-20 Women’s World Cup will bring to the nation,” said Thierry Weil, Fifa’s director of marketing.

“It is an honour to reveal the emblem that reflects the unique beauty and the spirit of hospitality of Papua New Guinea, which are essential to the success of the event.”

Nigeria/South Africa: We're Ready for Nigeria - South African Coach

Acting head coach of the South African u17 Women's National Team (Bantwana) Maude Khumalo is excited at the prospects of playing against their Nigerian counterparts in a FIFA u17 World Cup Jordan 2016 qualifier.

The two nations meet on Saturday, 12 March 2016 at the Abuja National Stadium in Nigeria.

Bantwana travel to Abuja tonight (Tuesday, 8 March 2016).

Bantwana arrive for Nigeria test in U-17 World Cup qualifier

The national U-17 women’s team have arrived in Abuja ahead of their third round, first leg U-17 World Cup qualifier with the Flamingos of Nigeria on Saturday.

The match will kick off at 16h00 local time (17h00 SA time) at the Abuja National Stadium.

Bantwana, who left South Africa on Tuesday, will host the return leg on March 26 at Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa, Johannesburg.

The upcoming tie will be South Africa’s first official match in the World Cup qualifiers after their opposition in the previous round, Zambia, withdrew from the competition.

On the other hand, Nigeria booked their spot in the third round after beating Namibia 9-0 on aggregate in January.

Bantwana’s stand-in coach Maude Khumalo is aware of the threat that the West Africans pose, but insists that they will not be bullied out of an opportunity to qualify for Jordan 2016.

“We will not be a walk over for the Nigerians, we intend on fighting for this qualifier. South Africa missed out on the last World Cup and would want to change that. The girls are very hungry, very determined and motivated by the prospects of their future. A win is very important so that we return home with less pressure and hopefully finish off the job in Johannesburg,” said Khumalo.

Nigeria/South Africa: U-17 Women's World Cup Qualifiers - Flamingos Seek Support Ahead of South Africa Clash

By Tunde Eludini

Rasheedat Ajibade, Captain of the U-17 National Women Team, Flamingos, has called on football fans in and around Abuja to troop in their numbers to cheer her and teammates to victory as they take on their counterparts from South Africa in Saturday's 2016 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup final round, first leg qualifier.

Ajibade promised that the team would not let the nation down come Saturday.

"We will give it our very best. But we also want Nigerians to troop to the Stadium and cheer us to victory on Saturday," the Flamingos skipper stated.

Already, the NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, has challenged the U-17 National Women Team to go all out against their counterparts from South Africa in Saturday's first leg contest.

The NFF scribe gave the charge while attending the team's evening training session in Abuja.

Nigeria/South Africa: No Mercy for South Africa, NFF Tells Flamingos

NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, has challenged the U-17 National Women Team, Flamingos, to go all out against their counterparts from South Africa in Saturday's 2016 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup final round, first leg qualifier. The NFF scribe gave the charge while attending the team's evening training session in Abuja.

While commending the girls for their outstanding performance in the 9-0 thrashing of Namibia in the last round of the qualification series, Sanusi told the girls to brace up for a stiffer test as South Africa's Bantwana will pose a bigger challenge than the Namibians did.

"I urge you to go all out against the South Africans on Saturday. The South Africans will be much stronger than the Namibians that you beat home and away in January. You are carrying the weight of this entire nation. Take your chances as they come, and don't stop scoring.

"On behalf of the NFF President and the entire Executive Board, I want to assure you that the NFF will motivate you in a big way to go to Jordan and surpass the performances of your predecessors."

But truthfully, any honest South-African citizen knows the bantwana will fall to the Flamingoes.

Our Super Falcons missed out on the Olympics for the 2nd consecutive time. We don't want our U-17 to miss out on Jordan 2016.

We wanna see them qualify just like their big sisters, the U-20 Super Falconets, did.

I think other Mahamba-like South Africans know there's no way Our Flamingoes won't destroy their girls.

Watch out for Rasheedat Ajibade. Deadly!!!

Some other really talented girls exist in that Flamingoes team. Sorry, Bantwana... But this one is for us..... #smiles
