Suspension (2014–present)
On 9 July 2014, the FIFA Emergency Committee indefinitely suspended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). As such, the NFF is banned from taking part in "any regional, continental or international competitions". The verdict is due to a decision by a High Court of Nigeria preventing the NFF president, the NFF Executive Committee members, and the NFF Congress from handling affairs in Nigerian football until the court proceedings have finished. The suspension applies to the Nigeria women's national under-20 football team as well. FIFA indicated that "The suspension will be lifted once the court actions have been withdrawn". However, should the suspension still be in effect by 15 July 2014, the "Falconets" may not participate in the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.

The 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup will be the 8th edition of the tournament. The tournament will be hosted by Papua New Guinea.
The competition will be played from 28 October to 16 November 2016.

Host selection.
Original round of bidding.
On 5 December 2013, FIFA announced that the tournament was to be held in South Africa. The following countries submitted a bid to host the tournament by the May 2013 deadline:

South Africa were awarded the hosting rights by FIFAat a meeting on 5 December 2013, but withdrew, giving its notice at FIFA's Executive committee meeting prior to the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

1. Teams that will make their debut.
Venues
On 25 August 2015, FIFA will announce the host cities for the tournament.
A FIFA delegation visited the following four stadiums in April 2015: Sir Hubert Murray Stadium, Sir John Guise Stadium, Lloyd Robson Oval, and Bisini Parade, all located in Port Moresby.

Final draw.
The final draw will be held on 24 May 2016 in Port Moresby.
Group stage.
The schedule of the tournament will be announced on 29 October 2015.
The winners and runners-up of each group advance to the quarter-finals. As all FIFA tournaments the rankings of teams in each group are determined by mosts points, goal difference and goals scored. First between all teams. If there are stil ties those thee criteria are applied to the then tied teams. A drawing of lots by the FIFA Organising Committee will break any remaining tie.

Papua New Guinea to Host FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in 2016.
The eyes of the soccer world will be on Papua New Guinea after it was announced that the nation will host the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in 2016.
The Prime Minister, Hon. Peter O'Neill CMG MP, welcomed the announcement as another example of Papua New Guinea coming of age in many forums.
"Papua New Guinea will proudly host the rising stars of global soccer at our world-class football facilities," the Prime Minister said following the FIFA announcement.
"Being awarded the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in 2016 is a major victory for Papua New Guinea as a country that can host world events.
"This is the first time in our history for a major world tournament to be held in Papua New Guinea and it will attract a lot of interest from around the world.
"We have the sporting facilities that are being built for the Pacific Games, as well as other infrastructure. This includes Sir John Guise Stadium and Sir Hubert Murray Stadium, and our stadiums in Lae and Kokopo.
"Games infrastructure will also be used for teams in maintaining their fitness and training during the tournament.
"Papua New Guinea is a country where our people can now aim high to bring events such as this FIFA tournament and the APEC summit in 2018."
The tournament will run over twenty days in November 2016 and will bring around 1,000 players and officials to Papua New Guinea as well as spectators. The Prime Minister said the tournament will also be broadcast around the world to millions of fans.
"The FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in 2016 will be delivered according to the highest technical standards, alongside a display of Papua New Guinea's hospitality, culture and other tourist attractions."
The Prime Minister has extended congratulations to the Papua New Guinea's soccer community for their hard work in delivering the successful bid.
"I would like to express my appreciation for the work of the President of the Papua New Guinea Football Association, David Chung, for his role in securing the tournament.
"An organizing committee will now be appointed following consultation with President Chung, and Mr Isaac Lupari, the Chairman of National Soccer League, as well as members of the FIFA Governing Council that is responsible for Club Football.
Teams from 16 countries will be take part in the tournament drawn from the 6 confederations that make up global football. These will be four teams of European countries, two teams from Oceania countries including Papua New Guinea, three from the Caribbean and North America, three Asian countries and two from South America and two from Africa.

Falconets Begin 2016 World Cup race against Liberia on June 17, 2015.
The U-20 Women National Team, Falconets, will begin their quest for a place at the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup against Liberia next month.
Liberia got past Sierra Leone for the right to face Nigeria, who finished as runner-up at the last tournament held in Canada.
Already, the Confederation of African Football has appointed officials from Guinea to take charge of the first leg of the fixture, which will take place in Monrovia on July 11.
Aissatou Inter Keita will be the Referee, with her compatriots Fantagbe Kaba, Manty Keita and Isatou Touray as Assistant Referee 1, Assistant Referee 2 and Reserve Referee respectively.
Fatou Camara from Mali will be the Match Commissioner.
Powered by the pace, technical ability and precision of Asisat Oshoala, the Falconets flew brilliantly all the way to the final in Canada in August last year, only losing to Germany by a lone goal. But Oshoala was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament, and with her seven goals, also won the Top Scorer award.
Next year’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup finals will be held in Papua New Guinea.

NFF Re-appoints Dedevbo As Falconets Coach.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has re-appointed Peter Dedevbo as Head Coach of the U-20 Women National Team, then Falconets.
NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, on Tuesday evening approved, on behalf of the Executive Committee and pending the ratification of the latter, a recommendation by the Technical and Development Committee to keep Dedevbo and his crew for one more term.
Chairman of the Technical and Development Committee, Felix Anyansi-Agwu, told thenff.com that his committee made the recommendation in view of the accomplishment of the Dedevbo-led crew at last year’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Canada.
“The Peter Dedevbo-led crew did well to get the Falconets to the final of the U-20 World Cup in Canada last year. Most of his players have been snapped up by the senior team, which shows that he built a good team.
“We will give the crew all the support that is necessary to qualify the Falconets for the 2016 U-20 Women’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea, and for the team to go there and win the trophy.”
Dedevbo’s assistants Toyin Ayinla, Wemimo Mathew Olanrewaju and Auwal Bashar also return as the Falconets countenance a 2016 U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying fixture against Liberia next month.
Dedevbo also tinkered the U-17 Women National Team, Flamingos, taking the team to the quarter-final stage at the World Cup finals in Trinidad and Tobago (2010) and Azerbaijan (2012).

The FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup is an international association footballt ournament, organized by FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), for national teams of women under the age of 20. The tournament is held in even-numbered years. It was first conducted in 2002 as the FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship with an upper age limit of 19. In 2006, the age limit was raised to the current 20. The event was renamed as a World Cup effective with the 2008 competition, making its name consistent with FIFA's other worldwide competitions for national teams.
Starting with the 2010 edition, tournaments held in years immediately preceding the FIFA Women's World Cupare awarded as part of the bidding process for the Women's World Cup. 2002
The first women's world championship at the youth level, held as the 2002 FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship, with an age limit of 19, was hosted by Canada. The final, held at Common wealth Stadiumin Edmonton, drew a surprisingly large crowd of 47,000 to watch the hostsplay the United States. The US defeated Canada 1–0 on a golden goalby Lindsay Tarpley. Canada's Christine Sinclair was the adidas Golden Ball recipient, as tournament MVP, and the Golden Shoe(10 goals) winner.

2004
The 2004 FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship was held in Thailand. For the second time in a row, the current holders of the adult World Cup, Germany, won the youth competition. The Golden Ball went to Brazilian star, Marta, while for the second time the Golden Boot went to a Canadian, Brittany Timko.

2006
FIFA raised the women's youth championship age limit to 20 to match the men's, beginning with the 2006 FIFA U-20 Women's World Championship, held in Russia from 17 August through 3 September.
The competition was held in four Moscow stadiums ( Dinamo, Lokomotiv, Podmoskovie Stadiumand Torpedo Stadion) and one in St. Petersburg ( Petrovskiy Stadion).
Korea DPR won the final 5–0 over China PR.

2008
The 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Championship was held in Chile, from 20 November to 7 December 2008.
Six years after winning their first championship at the youth level in 2002, the United States reclaimed the trophy with a 2–1 win over defending champions Korea DPR. The Golden Ball and the Golden Shoe went to Sydney Leroux of the United States.

2010
The 2010 edition of the tournament was held in Germany from 13 July to 1 August 2010. The host nation defeated Nigeriain the final to claim its second championship. It was the first time that an African nation had advanced as far as the semifinals. It was also the first tournament in which four different confederations were represented in the semifinals. The Golden Ball and Golden Shoe awards both went to Alexandra Popp of Germany.

2012
The 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup was played in Japan from 19 August to 8 September, after initially having a hosting bid from Vietnam withdrawn and a bid from Uzbekistan rejected.

2014
The 2014 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup was held in Canada from 5–25 August 2014, who reprised its role as host after a Zimbabwean bid withdrew leaving the Canadian bid unopposed.

2016
The 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup was expected to be held in South Africa, but due to the country's withdrawal, a new host was chosen on 19 March 2015, and it was Papua New Guinea.

Canada 2002: The USA Go all the Way.

Champions:
In a hotly contested, all-North American Final with hosts Canada it was the pre-tournament favourites USA who broke the hearts of their brave northern neighbours and 47,784 screaming fans in Edmonton's Commonwealth Stadium. A stunning golden-goal from American skipper Lindsay Tarpley was the only difference between the two sides in a nerve-wracking Final. Although Canada's dream had been destroyed, few heads hung low as the hosts' sparkling run through the competition captured the collective imagination of an entire nation and drew much-deserved attention to the inaugural FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship.
The side from the States were deservedly queens on the day. Their organisation and overwhelming efficiency blended in well with individual starlets like Lindsay Tarpley and Heather O'Reilly. In a magnificent run of form, the US ripped little Arsenal lass Ellen Maggs and her English associates to shreds (5-1), hopped all over the brave Aussies (4-0) and dismantled luckless Chinese Taipei (6-0). In light of their pulsating start, no one was particularly surprised when the US team demolished poor Denmark in the quarter-final (6-0) and a tough, determined German eleven in the Semis (4-1) before squeezing past the hosts in the Final.
Surprises:
Although no one really knew exactly what to expect, the inaugural FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship still managed to produce a number of surprises. Canada, coached by FIFA World Cup veteran Ian Bridge, proved an irresistible force on their run to the final. Led by the marvellous approach work of 15-year-old prodigy Kara Lang and Carmelina Moscato as well as the goal-spree from markswoman supreme Christine Sinclair, the Canadians forced a whole nation to sit up and take notice. After a jittery performance in a tight 3-2 opener with the Danes, Sinclair's astounding ten goals in five matches catapulted the young team to the Final.
Japan also overcame a shaky start to reach the quarter-final stage. The Asian side's cohesive brand of tactical football was an organized delight, sometimes even mesmerising. England reached the quarter-finals too, helped in no small measure by the diminutive Arsenal striker Ellen Maggs. Her skill, pace and creativity were a constant wonder.
Brazil were the true entertainers of the tournament with their number-10 Marta strutting her stuff with verve and aplomb. But the South Americans could not quite master the Canadians and cruelly fell to penalties in the semis. Germany, tough and determined, boasted one of the tournament's shining stars in Linda Bresonik.
Player of the tournament:
Canada's clinical finisher Christine Sinclair ran miles ahead of the pack to pocket both the adidas Golden Shoe for most goals in the tournament (10) and adidas Golden Ball honours as most valuable player. Size, speed and a killer's instinct in front of goal all combined to produce an insatiable Canadian goal-scoring machine. Linking up well with elegant playmaker Carmelina Moscato throughout the tournament, Sinclair's five goals against England in Canada's quarter-final had the competition gasping for air.

I pray so, especially looking at the abundant talents we have in Nigeria. Come to a state like Benue, Gboko in particular where stars like Francisca Ordega, Soo Adekwagh, Chiichii, Loveth Ayila and a host of other where raised, you will just discover that we are just wasting talents in this country. I also strongly believe that the case is same in different parts of the country. U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers: Falconets To Resume Camp Monday.

Peter Dedevbo, Head Coach of Nigeria’s under 20 women football team, says the team will resume camping on Monday ahead of their 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
Dedevbo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja that 36 players have been invited to camp for preparations for their opening fixture against Liberia.
“The camp will begin on Monday in Abuja and 36 players have been invited to resume camping.
“It is good for us to start now and build up ahead of our opening matches against Liberia,’’ he said.
NAN reports that Liberia will host Nigeria in Monrovia on July 11 in the first leg match of their first round qualifier for the World Cup.
The Falconets had finished second, behind Germany, in the last edition of the tournament in Canada in 2014.
The competition, which will be the eighth edition, is scheduled for Papau New Guinea from Oct. 28 to Nov. 16, 2016. (NAN).

When I got the news, questions like who are the players invited and what was the procedure for their invitation hence the coach was just confirmed 2 days ago? (unless the coach was assured of the contract before hand and might have started scouting for the players within the age bracket before his re-appointment). And hence their first match against Liberia comes up on 11th of July, why didn't they start camping earlier than now? And many more others.

Ahead of next month’s 2016 FIFA U- 20 Women’s World Cup qualifying fixture against Liberia, Falconets’ coach Peter Dedevbo has invited 36 players to attend a training camp.
As previously revealed, Chinwendu Ihezuo, Chichi Sandra and Aminat Yakubu have been named to the provisional roster.
Joining the trio are Ugochi Emenayo, Esther Elijah, Tessy Biawho, Uchenna Kalu, Mary Ologbosere, Joy Bokiri and Rashidat Ajibade, who all starred for The Flamingoes at the FIFA Under-17s last year.

Nigeria: Falconets Must Gear Up for Liberia Test - Dedebvo

Lagos — Reappointed Falconets coach, Peter Dedebvo, has revealed that the players need to gear up for the task at hand as the team prepares to face Liberia for the 2015 CAF U-20 Women's world cup qualifier.
The team lost 1-0 to Germany in the final of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Canada last year.
Dedebvo, who was the architech of the team's sterling show at the mundial, has revealed that there were no minnows in Africa football any longer and that he knows little or nothing about Liberia.
"We are looking at the best approach to selecting a time within the shortest time possible for the Liberia game. No team is a pushover in Africa right now especially now that we have no idea what their strengths or weakness is," Dedebvo said.
"We believe thought that we are ahead of other African teams and that is the morale boost we have."

Lagos - In continuation of his build-up to the upcoming FIFA U20 Women's World Cup Qualifiers against Liberia, Falconets head coach, Peter Dedevbo has dropped no fewer than five players from the team's camp in Abuja, a top official of the team reliably informed News24.
Names of the dropped players wasn't revealed by the official.
According to the official: “These players have done very well. They must keep working hard and improving on their talents because they definitely have that.
“They all have a future with the various national sides and we have encouraged them to go back to their clubs and be productive.”
According to the official, competition for spots keeps players on their toes as they realize that the team will be picked on form.
“It is important that we have competition in all departments. This will keep everyone on her toes. There is no room for complacency.
“We have good players in the team and that gives the technical crew options.
Falconets will begin their quest for a place at the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup against Liberia next month.
The current squad will be aiming to surpass the feats of their predecessors, starting with the opening qualifier against Liberia, who beat Sierra Leone for the right to face Nigeria, in the quest for a ticket to next year's competition to be held in Papua New Guinea.[/b]
