This year, Zidane (former Real Madrid assistant coach and Coach of Real Madrid Castilla) went to Germany to learn from Guardiola. The Cape Verde Coach spent some months with Mourinho training. Our coaches need training. Bringing in foreign coaches will not develop our football but tarnish it.

Training our local coaches is the way to go.

Below, Picture of Zidane in Bayern Munich premises to receive training from Guardiola.

I wish the master strategist---Jose Mourinho will someday coach Eagles.

Coaches should be sent on regular courses abroad for training. Oyibo coaches are arguably technically better simply because they were trained better, not because of their skin. Why won't NFF send a pool of employable/employed coaches abroad for UEFA coaching badges? Surely with their budget they can afford to send up to 20 or so coaches abroad for training each year. These coaches will now train local league coaches, who will train grassroot amateur coaches etc.

Did Keshi win the world Cup.... and as per Manu... Simon, Success, Nacho, Yahaya... ask on the bench and you call that a coach... an international coach keeps his best for attacking players on the bench and uses Ehanoloo(I destroyed his name) throughout the tournament... guy explain that logic...

Any coach picks his team based on the evidence available - if they were left on the bench then he must have seen something that he did not like.

How many coaches currently working have won a World Cup?

How many foreign coaches have Cote D'Ivoire hired and how many tournaments have they won with all the talent that they've had over the past ten years?

Why have Egypt struggled so much with all the foreign coaches that they have had since Shehata stepped down?

What did Berti Vogts do for Nigerian football? Or even Scottish football?

Do you want Nigeria to hire another Lars Lagerback? Is he better than Keshi or even Siasia?

Most of these foreign coaches that wind up in Africa are not very good, that is why they leave Europe because they know that there are foolish people like you who assume that they know what they are talking about because they come from Europe. If you judged them based on their track record they would not be hired at all.

It's bad enough that they come with bad ideas for excessive pay but what makes it worse is that they all coach a horrible (usually northern European) style of football that no one wants to watch and is not successful anywhere.

Nigeria's problem is that the league is not taken sufficiently seriously - for some reason the NFF seems to think that they can partially develop players and then send them abroad and others will take care of them. Players need a viable domestic league to grow into top class players, it is foolish to rely on foreign leagues and coaches to take care of your own.

Look at what Mikel was at 19 and look at him now. Why was a vibrant, positive attack minded midfielder turned into a water carrier? This is what will keep happening if Nigerian football does not take care of itself.

NFF will never seize to amaze Nigerians with this issue of foreign coach.
if they need to get a world class coach with pedigree, will they be able to cough out £6m a year when we know that national team coach don't get involved to often just like the club side aspect. if the NFF is indeed serious, they should go for the best hands like jurgen klopp, José mourinho, Carlos ancelotti,.
if that is too high, then we have harve reina, big Sam allaydice, mark Hughes , Brendan Rodgers.

Why would you suggest Brendan Rogers? What has he won?

What has Mark Hughes won as a manager?

Sam Allardyce? You seriously want Nigeria to play like his teams? Do his teams win tournaments?

Which 'Reina'?

Nigerian football needs better structure - the league needs to be taken seriously as a viable business and a as a means of developing Nigerian talent. Foster healthy competition and the best will evolve into world class products. There is no evidence that skills are ever transferred when foreigners are hired. Nigerians need to strip themselves of some of these silly myths that they hold onto about 'development'.

It's part inferiority but it's mainly fraud.

They like hiring the foreigners because it's easier to get kick-backs from them when they are hired and because they tend not to last very long they can keep making money in hidden hiring 'fees'.

The best news this year so far from NFF. Our coaches are bunch of clueless craps who can not make right decision at the right time in a game no technical know how and if you try to correct them they will feel too big to reason with you.

Pls Mr picknick or Pinnick or toothpick pls go and get better technical adviser all these ones called coaches here are dead in idea.

Keshi is the worst he is one of Nigeria coach that always rely on other nation national team ill luck for eagle to qualify for any tournament so clueless indeed and the most painful thing is in face of eagle loosing Keshi will sit like handicap in the bench having nice football time as if he is a spectator, no charisma, no swagger, no seriousness, no business like mood just dull.
Re: NFF Goes For Foreign Coaches by arsetalks(m): 1:52pm On Jun 20, 2015
Just about time to be honest. Foreign coaches would very UNLIKELY take bribes to play certain players. Favoritism killed the fly Eagles and in my opinion, that is a generation of potentially great players wasted because of one man's idiocy.

We need good coaches not just talent spotters at under 20 and under 17 level. Thats where the real coaching is done. We can do with our indigenous coaches at under 23 and SE level but not the youth levels. Not with our coaches knowing virtually nothing when it comes to proper coaching of young players.

Manu was a good talent spotter, thats all.

Where are they planning to raise the money to pay the coaches from?

Civil servants havent been paid and these guys expect the Ministry of Sports to have sufficient funds to pay a foreign coach??

Manu Garba has won an international tournament.

Keshi has won an international tournament.

I guarantee you that the foreign mercenaries that they hire will not have achieved as much yet people like you will somehow claim that they are better.

I am not just looking at results or past glory. And looking at the team! Have u watched the super eagles recently? Did you notice how their games lacked direction and game plan and how it was difficult for them to fashion out chances? That's what I am talking about

Manu Garba has won an international tournament, the u17 world cup. But lemme ask you, why is it that we can't translate u17 success to u20 and national team sucesss? I will tell you. At u17 level our boys when compared with the Europeans are very talented have lots of skills. At this stage kids just play and with our talent we can beat these teams! But what about when the boys start understanding tactics and game plan, then the difference is clear. How can manu Garba use long balls against a German defence who's average height is higher than that of the Nigerian strikers? Many indigenous coaches have won the u17 world cup. But after then what?

I am not just after foreign coaches, but coaches who have the technical know how. He maybe African or European but he should be tactical and willing to develop our players and our football. The Keshi u re calling today is the product of Westerhof!

The problem with Nigerian football is the structure - Nigeria needs a viable league that allows for young players to develop. Clearly the coaching is good at junior level for them to get to international tournaments and win, the problem is that as they age they do not get enough playing time against seasoned professionals, too many are being sent abroad at a young age where they do not get the coaching or the playing time that they need. It does not make sense to keep relying on foreign clubs and coaches to develop Nigerian players - they do not have Nigeria's best interests at heart.

As to your claim that Keshi is a Westerhof product - he also played under other coaches and would have learned from them as well.

Bunch of idiots

Why don't they do the following things.

1. Develop the local league.
2. Schedule friendlies for all of National teams.
3. Develop our our own National technical program. Develop Nigeria own pro A coaching license. Why do we have to continue to fly off to England and bring in foreigners. Do you see the Brazilians and Argentinians or even the US fly off to England for coaching courses.

Shame on you NFF.

What are you saying nah... I asked you a simple question... whats the point in camping if it's not too fish out the weed... four good players in the bench and your taking about Berti and Lars... that's one lack of technical competence...

Shame?? Why shame? Nigerian coaches couldn't really prove their selves with the national teams they handled. They had the talents and players with great skill set, but no technical know-how and game plan for each game. That's why u see our boys and girls do the playing while the other teams just observe and score us when they want and game over! We need coaches who can read matches well, understand opponent weak areas and develop a strategy to exploit these weaknesses and hide ours.

I would like the NFF to hire a highly technical and tactical coach who has a penchant for youth development, rather big name prayers. They can also make our local coaches his understudy, so that in the nearest future we could have world class homegrown coaches!

Nigerian coaches don't learn anything, pure and simple!

When was the last time a Nigerian coach sat down and read good managerial books that will be of immense value to him and his career? Carry out a survey, please. I'm sure some of them have not read a single book this year and they want to compete with those who are constantly self developing themselves - mentally, physically & even spiritually.

I repeat no Nigerian coach has the technical depth to function at the international stage. And i stand to be corrected.

NFF, please go for a foreign coach that will add immense value to us.

This is long over due, our local coaches were really exposed at the U20 and WOMEN world Cup. Apart from a full scale retraining of coaches in the short term, NFF should urgently partner with NYSC to use these foreign coaches to train and bring into the game high cerebral minds. Our current crop of coaches are either Ex footballers or secondary school drop outs who later found a way to get their WASC. Other sector of our Economy absolves our first class and 2.1 materials why not sports. NFF should train yearly on Zonal level 600 corp menbers, this will provide of a pool 3600 cerebral minds, if eventually 15 find their way full time into the game and 30 maintains part time contact with the game even as Academy and neighbourhood coaches yearly, who knows our own Mouhrinho may be unearthed, from one of these math, geology, chemistry, engineering graduates who through academic knowledge are cerebral and are more likely to decode and work with complex programs and football softwares and get result, football is no longer running around. Skill and physical education, it is IQ, like CHESS.

In the wake of the Flying Eagles and the Super Falcons’ unimpressive outings on the international scene, the Nigeria Football Federation seems to be looking towards the direction of expatriate coaches to handle the national teams. While the football house would insist on having expatriates head the technical crews of the various national teams, the back-room staff would still be headed by the indigenous coaches.PINNICK-NFF
Thank God

“The foreign coaches will be given convenient nomenclatures like ‘technical advisers or technical directors with the indigenous coaches working under them,”our source said. The Flying Eagles crashed out in the second round of the 2015 Fifa U20 World Cup in New Zealand while the Super Falcons were shown the exit door in the group stage of the 2015 Fifa Women’s World Cup in Canada.

According to a top NFF source, the Glass House has instructed top level football technocrats to shop for three technically competent coaches who would train the Flying Eagles, Super Falcons and the Golden Eaglets. The three tacticians are expected to come with their backroom staff but they would work with those Nigerians sent to England for courses in the technical study. The coaches who are expected to commence work in July would be expected to develop templates for the three teams as well as train potential coaches that would handle the teams in future.

It was also reported that the NFF will outsource the payment of the three foreign coaches through Public Private Partnership (PPP) with words rife that the federation chiefs are keeping the names of their partners under wraps until the details are sealed with all those involved.
