Ogbonnaya Onu is a good choice too, but I think Buhari will prefer someone he trusts and knows will watch his back for him, someone who is already nationally visible with a lot of goodwill, a person whose loyalty he can count on to represent his interests when he is not there.

Except political exigencies come in the way, I think Fashola will be our new SGF.

The Chief of staff.
If Onu is made SGF, he will need to be closely watched to make sure that all appointments etc. are not skewed to a particular group. This was Anyim's failing during GEJ's administration, appointments made during GEJ' time were too biased towards the Igbos, Anyim failed to ensure diversity and spread, and this cost his principal dearly.

Fashola was Tinubu's Chief of staff and because of his excellent performance Tinubu anointed him as his successor.

For national balance Onu will likely be made SGF while Fashola will be made COS.
