There is a very stiff competition for members among churches in Lagos and to beat the tough contest,churches have adopted the strategy of inviting Nollywood stars and other celebrities to special church events to serve as an attraction.

There have been cases of churches inviting popular Nollywood actors and musicians to spice up the level of attendance at major church events.

These celebrities have their pictures included on the posters and handbills advertising the church programmes and according to reports, the strategy has proven to be effective.

Nigerians are always so eager to see their favourite celebrities which is a high motivating factor. Actress, Patience Ozokwor was used as guest artist in one of the new generation churches last month. This raised rumours that she was set to become a pastor. The tactics is that love for Ozokwor by her fans will drag them to Church.


Nollywood comedian, Bishop Umeh popularly known as Okon has also been invited as guest artist in a 2-day revival ministration in a church in Ebonyi State.


This week, Osita Iheme (pawpaw), whose posters are all over Abakaliki is expected to show up at King Power Assembly Church where he has been invited as a guest artiste for an upcoming revival programme.
