The Nigerian Army has presented cheques to 62 next of kin of soldiers and officers of the army who died in ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the north-east.

While presenting the cheques to the recipients, the Chief of Army Administration, Major General Adamu Baba Abubakar, said the gesture was a sign of appreciation for their fallen colleagues and the support from their families while in service.

Major General Abubakar also urged the next of kin to commence the process of claiming other entitlements due them, including insurance, pension and sponsorship of their bereaved children between the ages of six and eighteen.

A terrorist group, Boko Haram, trying to establish an Islamic state in the north-east region of Nigeria and also end western education, has carried out series of attacks on communities in the region, displacing close to two million persons, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

For over five years Nigerian troops have sustained counter-terrorism operations in the region to contain the acts of terrorism. Unidentified number of soldiers have been killed in the operation.

If baba will just wake up one day and order his boys, it would go down to history as one of his greatest achievement..... if not it will be like a thief helping in search of what he stole

Our gallant soldiers paying the ultimate price to keep us safe, may God be with the family of the departed...

The cheque is the little appreciation we offer to the family of those who laid their lives for most of us to be safe(those who are grateful or those who go around to insult them)....

Nigerians thank them for their sacrifice...

undecided PR stunt @ its best. How about adequate welfare for the soldiers still living? How about those declared MIA? How about making IS operations as lucrative as foreign missions?

Families of fallen soldiers were complaining of a lack of welfare during GEJ's tenure. Where was your voice then? Now they are been compensated during Buhari's rule and you complain.

Do you really care about the soldiers or you are just looking for anything to blame Buhari?
