what the government did is wrong but making it sounds like it's because we are igbos is worst, Mushin market not the main one was demolished and rebuilt the market was dominated by Yorubas, same un Oshodi and a lot of other markets even some have their houses destroyed without compensations being given

The most sensible comment so far.

Sandgrouse market traders say the place is to be demolished soon. They were informed. They're mostly Yoruba's.

It's all about urban renewal and ensuring compliance with town planning and environmental laws.

ElRufai did same in Abuja. Though painful then, FCT was saved from impending rapid deterioration and they're better for it today.

. Folks that talk like you have just done are either blinded by hate, profusely uninformed, lazy, or too parochial in their thought process! A municipal council closes a market as large and strategic as ladipo without properly informing the traders, not to talk about the public that uses the market and you are here exposing your huge ignorance. Peoples means of lively hood has just be stopped for an excuse as flimsy and uncordinated as 'rebuilding the market' and you see it as a platform to vent your pathetic hate speech! For starters, shouldn't due process be applied in doing things like this if there is indeed no uterior motive? What ever happens to phasial rebuilding/ renovation works? These guys are responsible taxpayers, whatever happens to relocating them first before closing the market ? Its realy unfortunate that some of you youths think retrogressively, very unfortunate and disturbing indeed! We are all blessed!

People said this and more before oshodi was cleared free. We are happier for it.

...........................my brother the truth is that leadership is a multi ethnic society like ours with very volatile tribal sentiments requires a lot of tact, wisdom and caution, even if the mushin LCDA has good intentions , there's is a need for all concerned parties (especially when the market in question is dominated by a particula ethnic group) to be carried along, there is a need for even the public to see that they have genuinely adhered to due process , so that when and if they eventually result to demolition and rebuilding (which always is the last resort result) , everybody will see that due process was followed, because idealy government is about the people, we are not in a banana republic that some people wakes up one morning and send soldiers to close a market , stop peoples means of livelihood without either relocating then or commesurate compensation for their plight after all they were responsible tax payers. In uyo sometime ago, the govt wanted to relocate a market , the first thing they did was to get a new location for the traders, built it up and by the time they came to close the market most of the traders had moved on their own. That's good governance, so if it was done in oshodi or elsewhere , it does not make right, and worst of all when folks now eulogise the government for a decision taken in bad taste! We are blessed.

I agreed with you completely

Three weeks ago, the people of Alade market in Ikeja went on a demonstration to Alausa when they heard the news that government wants to demolish Alade market
But surprisingly, it was discovered that the chairman of the market has been notified and she was being carried along on proposed demolition. but she did not notify the other users of the market

Why are we behaving like homo erectus yet to evolve to true humans in these modern times?
What is the meaning of government dealing with one individual for such an important step as demolition of markets that serves as source of income for a large number of residents? Did the governments receive any feeedback from the business operators in the markets? Are the shop owners ghosts, lepers or animals that the government refuses to deal with them directly?
Is it too much for the government to send official letters to the individual occupants of the shops who are supposed to be tax paying citizens.

We treat ourselves with so much contempt and disdain and then whine about other races treating us as trash and sub-human. We are the first to complain the Western countries conspired to keep us underdeveloped when we hate ourselves so much and treat each other without dignity.
