10. Ferenc Puskas The Hungarian footballer was widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. He is a real goal-scoring machine, 514 goals in 529 games for Real Madrid, 84 goals in 85 outing for Hungary. His great exploits made FIFA name an award after his name – Puskas goal of the year. Steven Gerrard Gerrard, a true legend of the game, Liverpool faithfuls won’t forget his incredible performances in the red colours, except the slip against Chelsea which abruptly stopped him from winning an EPL title in his 17-year illustrious career with Liverpool. For country and club, Gerrard usually wears his heart on his sleeve, He ignited Liverpool’s legendary comeback in 2005 in the Champions League Final against AC Milan. However, He finished third in the Ballon d’ Or race in 2005, which went to Brazil’s Ronaldinho. Patrick Viera He was part of the Invincibles of Arsenal that went unbeaten to clinch the EPL crown, and on the national scene he had stellar career, he was part of the team that won the World Cup in 1998 and Euros in 2000. A great warrior in the midfield, where he fought many battles, the highlight of which was against Roy Keane. He might have had an incredible career but playing with the likes of Zinedine Zidane reduced his chances of winning a ballon d’or. Viera| French Legend 6. Ryan Giggs Graduate of the famed 92 Fergie’s Fledglings, he was a true legend of the game. He won virtually everything as a player at club level, but will be on the list of great players that never played in at FIFA world cup. The welsh man will go down in history as the most decorated British player of all time, but never won the Ballon d’or. Giggs| wing wizard 5. Paolo Maldini Born, bred and schooled in Milan, the Rossonerri man never won anything with Italy, but neither have Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi with their respective countries. With 7 Serie A titles and 5 UEFA Champions Leagues, he was arguably the game’s greatest defender because he was remarkably composed in situations where any other defender would have crumbled or let in a goal. Maldini| born and bred in Milan 4. Raul He the perfect goal poacher and because of this skill he lead Real Madrid’s front line to La Liga glory 6 times and 3 UEFA Champions Leagues. He is scored a whooping 323 goals in a Madrid shirt, an impressive international goal-scoring record with Spanish national team 40 strikes in over 100 appearances.
