Hello Nairalanders.

I really don't know how to start but i'll do the customary thing. Good Morning everyone.
I am calling on all kind hearted Nigerians home and abroad, Including and most especially TeHN. Please come to the rescue of baby Chidubem.
She is just a month old and has a hole in her heart. She needs surgery which they say will cost N4million.

Please time is of the essence as she is just a month old and was diagnosed yesterday.

Her parents are a newly married couple (marriage is less than 2 years old). They live in Abuja, Nigeria and this is their first child.
Efforts have already commenced in raising funds. Account details are below.

Chidubem is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the National Hospital , Independence Avenue, Abuja. All requests to take pictures of her, have been waved.
A medical report has been provided and is available with relevant test results and recommendations.

KANU heart foundation would do nothing about it, calling on the public is the best, however, as you rightly said, we need more evidence.

I have been away and busy with my Grandfathers funeral and I am only just seeing this.

Please Jaybee3, R231, ifyalways and all other TeHN execs, I will be sending you guys an email regarding this case for us to discuss and come to a position on this case. Please make time out from your busy schedules to communicate with me so we can know what we can do to help this mother. I learnt she is a long standing Nairalander and my inquest so far has proven that the case is real and the baby is in dire need of help.

This is really sad. Her mum was my immediate senior in secondary sch FGGC benin city.few weeks ago everyone was congratulating her on the arrival of her baby,now this!

This is real. please help help help. the baby's mum is a friend to my sister and she graduated from univeristy of Benin Ekewan campus. Baby chidubem was born in june and now this.

Thanks to Richard (TeHN) and Okija juju for their response so far.

The mandate to get someone to verify the case has been carried out.
I was able to find a resident of Abuja who is a nairaland member. He agreed to take on the verification exercise.
His moniker is "Inoureyez1", and he will be posting updates of diagnosis and steps taken so far by the parents of Baby Chidubem.
BTW, Baby Chidubem is now 2 months old.

Sorry have not been able to respond here on time. I called the parents as I was told to and they had an appointment on Tuesday (4th August)in national hospital with DR Babaniyi (doctor in charge). I saw the referral letter from federal staff hospital where baby chidubem was born and dicovered with a hole in the heart( hospital no 026646). Getting to the hospital, the doctor was not available due to some reasons I still don't understand. Dr Ezema came and told us Dr Babaniyi couldn't make it as she was the only one to carry the ECHO scan and she was handling some other important operation. On Thursday 6th of August, we went back and was given same story that Dr Babaniyi was still not available.
Dr Babaniyi is the paediatric conslutant and still haven't seen baby chidubem.
According to the medical findings, baby chidubem needs to have this operation done before she's four months and now she's two months and 10days and we don't know the faith of the child. As I write this report, I spoke to the father Keze and baby chidubem has not been eating well and less sleep and the mother is so worried.
GOD help baby Chidubem.she's too pretty and blessed.

Where are they planning on doing the surgery?
Which doctor diagnosied her as having hole in heart and put up the quote of 4M?

I think the first step is to get Chidubem to do an ECHO scan.

They plan doing it in India at Fortis Escort Heart Institute New Delhi. Contact person Ritu( international desk)+919818060061.
Dr Maduka at federal staff hospital Abuja was the doctor in charge before the parents asked to be referred to national hospital and Dr babaniyi took over.
Dr babaniyi also was the one who estimated the cost as estimated as 4million and the operation alone is 7k dollars.
Spoke to the father like 5mins ago and was told Dr babaniyi has promised to do the scan on Tuesday 18th. ( fingers crossed)

So sorry have not been in touch or communicated, fell under the weather but am good now.
Finally the test has been carried out and result out. Attached below is the result and statement from the doctor. Really didn't understand it but it was confirmed chidubem has a hole in her and also is hypertensive as I write this report. I sent this same report to my doctor friend in the USA. She confirmed Dr Babaniyi's report and said an operation should be carried out immediately.
Baby chidubem is currently not eating well and the parents are having a hard time. Please Mimi, she has no time. The operation that would help is supposed to be carried out before she's four months old. Whatever and however you helping please know there is no time. Thanks and GOD BLESS
