Last Sunday, June 28 was parents’ visiting day at King’s College, Lagos but unfortunately parents were locked out of the school premises.
Despite the heavy rain falling, the two gates leading into the school premises were locked and parents were denied the right to see their children.
Armed policemen were seen guarding the gate school main campus and the annex.
According to a parent, the gates to the school were ordered locked and manned by armed policemen by the school principal. This was because some parents were asking for a better welfare for their children and wards and the school principal felt they were asking for too much.
Because their rights have been infringe upon, some of the aggrieved parents who have children in the school have taken their case to human rights lawyer, Festus Keyamo who is presently on the case.
Before now, King’s College concerned parents had donated gift items to the principal Otunba Olateju for the school clinic. They donated refrigerator, sterilizer and generating set to the school clinic. This they did because their children complained to them that the clinic do not have sterilizer, they do not have light in the night and that the school clinic lacks refrigerator to keep clinic items.

King’s college is an elitist secondary school founded in the colonial era to raise men who will in the end take over the reins of Nigeria from the colonial masters.
King’s College, Lagos has a population of over 3000 students among whom over 2700 are boarders, while 300 are day students.
