Although I’d heard of hoodlums in big cities like Lagos engaging in petty crimes like pick-pocketing et cetera, I`d not really experienced such horrible things because I’d always been locked up in my ‘big’ town, Gbongan. I was really scared to death when I was about to fall victim of such crimes. And that began the chapter of my agony in Great Ife.
Being the first day of resumption, I boarded a commercial bus going to Ile-Ife from Gbongan. Before getting the bus, I`d to stand up to an hour under the smiling scorching sun, my soul engulfed with a mixture of frustration and internal ecstasy. Just like that I`d become an OAU student, a law student for that matter. I was going to sleep on my own allocated bed space in the Angola Hall of residence tonight. My life was really moving and changing faster more than I could have comprehended. And finally, I WAS REALLY GOING TO PUT ON TIE. Those were the thoughts running through my innocent mind. I was so elated. Although the sun was scorching, I was really enjoying it. Nothing seemed so hard, then.
