in the holy Bible in the old testament God spoke to the people through prophecy by speaking through his prophets who were middlemen between man and God.
But in the new testament there was no prophet nor prophecy before and after the death of Christ...
Did God still speak to His people through prophecy any longer and how would one knows it's God speaking because 90% of the so called prophets today are fake and false prophets...
following the promise of God in Joel 2:28;;;;;And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy your old men shall dream dreams your young men shall see visions...

There's nothing like hearing from God personally! It's like receiving and unexpected love letter : ) The office of the Prophet carries the highest and most precious correspondence from on High.
SCRIPTURE IS GOD'S GENERIC WORD TO YOU! PROPHECY IS GOD'S PERSONAL WORD TO YOU! And that is why u need a prophet to help u because Scriptures speaks to EVERYONE where as a prophetic word speaks to YOU.
That's why king David had his own personal prophet.
That's why even apostle Paul despite being an apostle had to rely on a prophet to tell him about the future.
