Which Natural Resources did you say Lagos and Ogun have (they have but that isn't what really benefits them)? What they have is port and Infrastructure (built by the FG with oil money, Ogun Benefits by proximity). Marks must be given to Lagos for improving its IGR during the OBJ blockade.

Anyway, we must also review our VAT and Corporate Tax scheme and our National structure. If we are serious we will start there. We only need about 6 states. We can achieve this by creating zonal commissions which will take over in 5 -7 years.

But are we serious?

Some section of the country kicked against the last national confab and failed to back up true federalism. Like it or not people must pay for it somehow.

Kogi state is a disgrace.

There are the natural resources in the state;

Iron ore, mica, marble, limestone, coal, crude oil, gold, kaolin, tantalite, feldspar and dolomite.

No governor has been able to do anything positive with them.

Unfortunately, Kogi is classed as part of the 'North' and no international investor will step foot there. Your leaders are too busy amassing wealth to give a rats-a$$ about your mineral resources.

U got it all wrong, d international political-economy does not favour d development of some of these vital mineral since it will fasten our industrialization process. On d other hand just as d oil is found in one region and others benefit from it, so also iron and steel development would have benefited Nigeria first b4 kogi state. In that everybody will be contributing not begging 4 oil hand outs.
4 ur information d shortest way 4 Nigeria 2 join d league of industrialised nations is through d development of its solid minerals, which is abundant in d north. U know as much as I do that d west is not yet ready 2 have any other nation, particularly African, in their exclusive club of industrialised nations. U should know how they frustrate China and India.

Plus all that was said, but the real reason is because we've failed to embrace science. And this's an Africawide problem. Until we embrace science, Africa is going nowhere industrially.

Industrial development will only occur when we learn to apply scientific principles to solve our problems. Because, application of science to solve problems translates to technology, which in turn creates industries. Africa cannot develop without investment in grassroots science!.

Before we rush to condemn the governors, let's not forget that the mining of these solid minerals remain on the exclusive list. In other words only the Federal government can mine solid minerals. So it all boils down to that faulty operating manual we call our constitution and our warped federal system which is at best still a Unitary style of government.

Sometimes I keep wondering why all attention is just on the Oil and Gas for revenue when Agriculture and Minerals are not yet fully exploited. Not until Nigeria think Beyond Oil and Gas with zero tolerance for corruption at all levels of government we are not going anywhere.
