Ironsi also refused to appropriately avenge the death of those who were murdered and paved the way for him to take over power. That among other things culminated into the coup that ousted him and led to his death.

Just the same way the coup that ousted those before him led to their gruesome murder.

If we insist we want justice for all the coups that has occurred in this country, it will lead to an endless war of attrition. That is why a lot of people decided to wisely let go. It's not as if they don't know the steps to take.

In civilised countries, if a person kills another person, be it in a military coup or not, be it 50 years ago or yesterday, even in self defence, there will be some sort of judicial enquiry into what happened. Even now in The Hague, second world war criminals are still answering for there crimes 70 years after that war ended. So don't try to cover the fact that because your country is backward, crimes should be forgotten.

Ironsi did not lead the first coup...that honor belongs to the five majors.(Nzeogwu, Ifeajiuana,Okafor, Ademoyega, Gbuile).

Ironsi tried to put down the first coup....but was unsuccessful. He later was handed over power by the Politicians....
