I have seen students complain on how they study hard for exams, and then fail or perform woefully at the end of the day. you will see them complain on how they find it difficult to retain things they learn. You will hear them tell you stories on how they were good and effective during their primary school days, but now things have changed. Many of them have even believed that they are now under the influence of spiritual forces. Many also believe that destiny has taken hold of them. The list below will talk on some strategist ways to study, and some strategist ways to empower your academic retentive memory.

1. SUSPEND ANY STRONG EMOTIONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH OPPOSITE SEX

The traumas in an emotional relationship are detrimental and poisonous to academic mental focus and stability. Instead of trying to cope with it, why not suspend it for now, if you know that your education is very vital to you. Stop using something timely and vital as education to gamble with other things that can be exercised any time in future. why not play the game when you don't have much to lose.

2. TAKE THE CONTENTS IN THE TEACHER'S NOTE/MATERIAL AS PRIORITY IN STUDY.

If you can finish them on time before the exam day, then you can decide to read broader. Stop making the mistake of doing the reverse, because it is very risky. You will always see the Mr. to-know in library reading big books and topics that he will not even need at master's level, while the simple things he needed to know and practice upon to pass now will be left un-touched till exam comes.

3. STOP BEING SHY OR PROUD FROM TELLING PEOPLE TO TEACH YOU.

What someone can explain to you in 10minutes and then understand, you can study it for 2 weeks and still not properly get it. Why not save yourself the mental stress and time ?. Be ready to humble yourself to anyone (irrespective of age) that can improve your knowledge, because knowledge is not a respecter of age. If a two year old boy carries the knowledge that you lack and need, then humble yourself to the knowledge, by showing respect to that boy.

4. HAVE A SUMMARY BOOK

At the point where you studied and understood something, your mind might easily deceive you by making you to believe that you will always remember it at that level in the future. learn to comprehensively and briefly put down what you studied and understood when the iron is hot. Instead of you going through all the materials/notes again when next you want to revise, then the brief and comprehensive summary book will now come into play. you have to be creative here. long epistle of stories are meant to reveal and communicate some points. Your responsibility is now to discover those points from your study, and then write the points in your summary book.

5. LEARN TO FREQUENTLY WRITE DOWN WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED

Meditate on what you have learned, write them down on a paper, feed your eyes with the writings, and read them out again with your mouth, then your chances of forgetting them will be less than 5%, when you do it frequently. You can just be less busy in a place, just bring out a pen and any rough paper to attempt it.

6. STUDY PAST QUESTIONS

The past questions will show you how the questions can likely come from the notes/materials giving to you. that should shed more lights on the direction of your studies.

7. DON'T STUDY, BUT INSTEAD REVISE DURING EXAMINATION PERIOD

To achieve this, you must be used to studying from/before day 1 of lecture. also make sure that a day does not go without creating time to study/cover things taught that day, or a week does not go, without making sure that you have covered all things taught that week, before the following week.

8. DERIVE A CONSISTENT TIME TO STUDY

If it is even 30minutes of your time that you can donate for daily studies, then try many times to honor it, because there is power and stability in consistency.

9. SEEK MENTOR-SHIP FROM YOUR SENIORS

By doing this, that bros that passed that course during his own time will give you clue on things he did right to warrant the result, and that sister that did not do well then will also tell you things she did wrong during her time to warrant that low class result. They will also give you direct clue on what the teacher or lecturer of that particular course wants from students.

10. TEACH PEOPLE WHAT YOU KNOW

When you communicate what you know to people, then you will know/understand it better, and your retentive memory on it will become stronger. Fresh and better revelation of that knowledge will be revealed to you in the process.

Add yours.

12. Cultural and socioeconomic issues

There are various cultural and socioeconomic issues that prevent women from having adequate access to education. One prominent cultural view is that it is better for the woman to stay home and learn to tend to her family instead of attending school.
