Breast cancer is cancer that forms in the cells of the breasts. After
skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in
women. Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women. breast cancer often can be
found early when screened. In fact, many women are even cured of the
disease. Breast cancer can occur in both men and women, but it's far
more common in women.
Signs and symptoms of breast cancer may include:
1. A breast lump or thickening that feels different from the surrounding tissue.
2. A change in the size or shape of your breast.
3. Redness or pitting of the skin over your breast, like the skin of an orange.
4. A pain in the armpits or breast that does not seem to be related to
the woman's menstrual period.
5. One of the nipples has a discharge; sometimes it may contain blood.
Causes of breast cancer:
It's not clear what causes breast cancer. Still, most women considered
at high risk for breast cancer do not get it, while many with no known
risk factors do develop breast cancer. We know that some risk factors
can impact on a woman's likelihood of developing breast cancer. These
are:
1. Age
2. Genetics
3. Having had certain types of breast lumps
4. Obesity
5. Height
6. HRT (hormone replacement therapy)
7. Type of work
8. Alcohol consumption
9. Sun exposure
10. Cosmetics and make ups
