Pictured is a Nigerian soldier excavating an improvised explosive device buried on the road as mine to stop troops in the northern region of the country...

Meanwhile, Troops of the 3 and 7 Divisions of the Nigerian Army on Wednesday cleared some roads in Borno State for motorists and other road users to ply.

The Spokesperson of the Nigerian army, Sani Usman, said the roads linking Biu- Sabon Gari – Damboa in the state have been cleared of mines and insurgents for public use.
“The public are encouraged to use the road as adequate security measures have been put in place for their safety. Similarly, efforts are on for the clearance and reopening of other roads in Borno and Yobe States,” Mr. Usman said.

Don't see anything funny there. The soldier could have left it there waiting for equipments that may never come. Call it getting the job done at whatever cost.

Our soldiers deserve better.
