Wenger V Mourinho - The War Of Words by Nobody: 2:29pm On Jul 28, 2015
It's English football's favourite managerial rivalry. Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger have taken many shots at each other in the press over the years. Here's how things have intensified between them over the years...

2005 - Wenger on the lack of home-grown talent at Chelsea: "I don't see especially that Chelsea play more English players than we do. Who have they produced [who are] home-grown? Just one, John Terry."

2005 - Wenger on the negative tactics of Mourinho: "I know we live in a world where we have only winners and losers, but once a sport encourages teams who refuse to take the initiative, the sport is in danger."

2005- Mourinho on Wenger's Chelsea obsession: “I think he is one of these people who is a Viewer. He is someone who likes to watch other people. There are some guys who, when they are at home, have a big telescope to look into the homes of other people and see what happens. He speaks, speaks, speaks about Chelsea. It's a sickness."

2005 - Wenger responds: "He's out of order, disconnected with reality and disrespectful. When you give success to stupid people, it makes them more stupid sometimes."

2005 - Mourinho on his Wenger file: "At Stamford Bridge, we have a file of quotes from Mr Wenger about Chelsea football club in the last 12 months - it is not a file of five pages. It is a file of 120 pages so we have a very strong reaction. My objective is that it is enough."

2007- Mourinho on Wenger and foreign players: "Unlike Arsenal, we sought success and tried to build it through a concept of the game using English players.”

2014 - Mourinho on the record of Wenger: "He's a specialist in failure ... if I do that at Chelsea, eight years without silverware, I leave and I don't come back."

2014 - Wenger responds: "[Mourinho has a] fear to fail. It is very open, only Chelsea can lose it because they are in front and all the other teams can win it."

2014 - Mourinho responds: "I did not get an apology so I do not apologise. My feeling is to get over it, forget it and to move forward without thinking about what happened, you do not need to apologise. Football people, intelligent people we do not need that."

2015 – Mourinho questions why Arsenal aren’t top: "Arsenal? I don’t understand why they are not where we are, with Manchester City, because I like their team."

2015 – Mourinho on Wenger's 'dream job': "At this moment Wenger has a dream job that we would all love to have. He has the stability and has the time to buy and sell and wait for success, and wait and wait. I think he has the dream job."

2015 – Wenger aims a sly dig at Mourinho: "I ignore completely what happened. Chelsea won 1-0 [against Manchester United]? The usual. We will see next week."

2015 - Mourinho on Wenger's spending: “If you add up the amounts the clubs have spent in the last three or four years I think maybe you will find a surprise. Get a calculator. That is one of the easiest things to do. It leaves no space for speculation. If you want to be honest, objective and pragmatic it is the easiest job for a manager or a journalist to do. “They have bought a fantastic goalkeeper and that is a position which is very important in a team. “If you put Ozil plus Sanchez, plus Chambers, plus Debuchy you will maybe find a surprise.”
