*Hauwa*:

that so true. no computer for kids. i wonder if sistahwoman is able to curb where her kids are doing online (with her gift of computer).

some kids are actually responsible with computers even those who have it in their room. i just think it is a matter of parental supervision cox where ever the computer is in the house, some kids will always find a way around to manipulate and misuse  it.

girls hideout So this is where all nairaland chics are hiding?? BUSTED!!!

I dont support banning computers and internet for under 18.
That is the age they should be getting a lot of knowledge.

They have a lot to learn from the internet and banning the computer in your house does not mean they wont go to their friends house and do it on the computer or in school.

Do you know these kids are so knowledgeable about the computer that they can actually bypass any

Just tell them about the dangers of such sites. SIMPLE
Re: Parental Guide: Bringing Up A Child by DeReloaded: 6:02am On Apr 04, 2009
I believe I said "No computer IN THEIR ROOM" while they're under 18 and NOT banning of a computer. Unless of course you wanna show me where it was stated that computer should be banned/

Two completely different statements.
Re: Parental Guide: Bringing Up A Child by Sissy3(f): 7:36am On Apr 04, 2009
@ dayokanu

i dont really think anyone here is or was implying banning the use of computer in the house, however we were or are just saying there should be some restriction on the use of it especially since the gal in question is young and using the net for dating sites
Re: Parental Guide: Bringing Up A Child by Nobody: 8:03am On Apr 04, 2009
actually, dreloaded, you need to modify it. they can have computers in their rooms , but NO internet access. internet access will be only on a 'public' computer .

this is easier said than done, a smart kid can always figure out a way, aqnd what do you do if ur kid buys a laptop with his own money?

it is far too easy to find porn etal on the internet, even if you are not looking for it. its also very easy for kids to get indoctrinated into all sorts of seriously weird stuff. . .
Re: Parental Guide: Bringing Up A Child by sistawoman: 12:28pm On Apr 04, 2009
My kids computer is in my bedroom, right next to mine.

The kids computer has a parental/kids blocking software offered by Comcast (my internet provider). The software is so good that sometimes regular sites that he uses for school projects are blocked and I have to over ride the block.

There is also a key logger installed on thier PC and they know about it. They know that I check the keylogger reports that are sent to my email. I also have a webcam in the bedroom hooked to my pc that has a motion dector in it and it comes on and snaps pictures everytime there is movement in the room. I get real live pics sent to my email of his screen shoots when he is online.

I dont have these type of problems with the kids and the internet.

i dont think its a nice thing to advice ur child to hit back wen he is been hit. wen such happens to ur child n he/she comes home to tell u,i think u should go c d teacher/head of d schl n report.they will summon d parents n talk wit them.i think it would stop. it happend to my kid bro,it stopped after they reported to d other childs parents. cos if u tell ur own child to hit back n in d process,he does sumtin worse dan wat d other child did, dats trouble. it will end up bad.

at age 13?

If the child is below the age of 18, then he can buy his own laptop and pay for his own internet service, but not under my roof. That's if I know he's being irresponsible with the privilege.

Like I said before, internet servers offer parental control, so you can block some site,a site that promises browsers some contents only age 18 and over should be viewing. The parent have the passwords, so only they can change it.

My mom did, nothing wrong with that. wink

should burgers, MacD etc be given to young kids?
I wouldn't for my kids. All this food with chemicals and steriods nowadays.

should niaja parents strictly give their young kids niaja food only?
My mom forced my sis, she wouldn't eat it. She hated rice, eba etc. All she ate was American food.
I say, dnt force it on them, but try to encourage them to eat naija food wink

at what age should the above mentioned food be fed to kids?
Starting from age 1, even before 10 months is okay wink

Yea, starting before age one so they can get used to our food.
If you wait later and let them get used to all those synthesized Gerber bottle food, they won't want to eat naija food embarassed

It's not like eba, amala, and poundo needs to be chewed? Just add okro and it's easy to swallow.
My mom always mix pap to her children's milk tongue

Emi ni yen o.

Don't make it too spicy. If you can, make a seperate soup for them.
Yes, okro soup. Nothing wrong with it.
Kids tends to love okro soup better than obe efo.

Adult stryle okro, plain okro, which ever. Some like it with "orisirisi" while other s like it plain.
Pay attention to the one your kid likes, and feed it to him/her.
Just becareful with bones if you add fish and meat.

Ata rodo ke? maybe a little.
Add epo pupa but not too much.

JUST PLZ PLZ, DON'T MAKE THEM HATE OUR FOOD cool cool

@ Ebony,

I have a cutie pie that changes into 6 clothes in a day. How about dat? Well, let him remove it. Help him wear it back and spank him when he tries removing it again. I no guarantee say e go work o. Kids are just kids.
Re: Parental Guide: Bringing Up A Child by Tgirl4real(f): 8:18am On Apr 06, 2009
@ Hauwa,

Poundo, eba and akpu would be too hard for babies below 10months. It will be difficult for the food to digest. Amala and ewedu (sprinkle some grounded crayfish and add fish too) is ideal for kids in this category. U can always add a lil stew when serving it. But, plz, no ata rodo o. U can feed ur kid pap at anytime as long as the kid likes it.

Other solid food can be introduced gradually. Akpu should be the last IMHO

How old is your young stripper?

My baby son who is not a baby anymore (7yrs old), he was a stripper too until around 5 or 6. As soon as he came home he started to take it off and would run around in his underware starting at around 2 1/2, before then it was naked as the day he was born.

If there was no company in the house I did not mind do as you like. If there was company in the house he had to have on at least his diaper or underware.

Now he still partially strips but has on a tee shirt with is undies and is just getting used to shorts.

I say in the next year I will have him wearing shorts and a wife beater or tea shirt.
