Following the release from the management of Obafemi Awolowo university, Ile-ife advising students living on and off campus to remain indoors today Wednesday, August 12th due to the curfew in ile-ife which is associated to the traditional rite in respect to the demise of the late OONI of Ife, Awo boiz now doing there own Oro Rite inside the school premises...this also helps in creating more awareness for the traditional rite going on.

So basically, the acclaimed Oro festival is just a couple of men, dressed in all white, carrying a wooden box and running round a deserted street as is being portrayed in these pictures? If not, I 'll appreciate if someone with indepth knowledge of the rites would be kind enough to school us. I'm curious. What is the significance of the rites and why are the indigenes barred from coming out to relish the thrills of such a strong culture? And, what's that stuff that guy up there is supposed to be carrying? Could it be the nake|d remains of the late royal father??

When I remember a full display of hilarious 'Aro' that is uniquely unique only to Awoites I remembered my days in OAU, although a Fajuites but the memories of Great Ife Awoites linger on indeed, Ife na elele, Ife na waya o (2x); no school be like am, no campus fine like am, e ho, e ho, Ife na elele.
