A story By Nairamat

Don't mind my diction

Tope: what is wrong with you, dont you know that am having an appointment? Dont let me report you to mummy o, lazy dirty girl.

Kehinde: am just coming back from the kitchen, mummy told me to wash the dishes.. And can't you do this yourself?

Tope: and so? Are you that slow? Come on iron that dress fast, and neatly, i dont want that your filthy stench to touch my clothe o, so iron with care. Mtcheew

Kehinde has been enduring such maltreatments ever since the sad demise of her parents who left her in the care of her uncle Tunde, who barely has time for family, he was always on business trips, and seldom has time for Kehinde his niece, this led to Tolu, his wife and Tope his daughter treating her like one who has no belonging among humans.

Kehinde: OK .

Tope: Ahh! Whats that smell? You burnt my clothe? *slaps Kehinde* it will not be well with, wicked girl! Mummy! Mummy! Come and see what Kehinde did.

Tolu: my daughter, why are you disturbing me na, dont you want me to watch my Telenovela?

Tope: mummy, come!

Tolu: and what is it?

Tope: mummy see, see what Kehinde has done to my expensive dress, see..

Tolu: what? You this unfortunate girl, come here *slaps Kehinde, pulls her to the floor, and was matching and beating her*

Kehinde: ah, ye, mummy, please it was a mistake, i didnt know that the iron was hot, please.

Tope: wretched girl.

Tolu: where is that iron let me show you how hot it is *presses the iron on Kehinde's arm*

Tope: yes thats good for you.

Kehinde: ahh, *crying* please, mummy ahh, mummy, ahhh.

Tolu: who are you calling mummy, have you forgotten that you killed your mum? Unfortunate girl!

*door opens*

Seyi: mummy, Tope, what is going on here? Ah, Kehinde, mum dont you have a conscience? Come on get out *pushes Tope* , Kehinde , what did they do to you? Come here.. Mum, you have to stop all this barbaric attitudes you are showing this days just because she is not your blood, and you Tope, aren't you supposed to have tests today, what are you doing at home?

Tope: how is that your business? *hiss*

Seyi: i will slap you now, am i your mate?

Tolu: in my presense? Are you ok?

Seyi: *hiss*

***********************

Kehinde: ouch

Seyi: is it painful? This is just spirit o, not even iodine.

Kehinde: of course its painful.

Seyi: look at you.

Kehinde: anyway, Seyi, thank you for helping me earlier.

Seyi: its nothing, i dont just like the way they treat you, as if you've done something to them.

Kehinde: i don't even know.

Seyi: but why is it that you don't even tell daddy about this, you know daddy do not tolerate nonsense.

Kehinde: ah! No o.

Seyi: then i will tell him for you.

Kehinde: no please don't, i dont want more troubles, please.

Seyi: but i dont understand, why?
Kehinde: just forget, and please, don't tell daddy about any of it.

Seyi: and allow mum and that spoilt brat to continue with their mischievous attitudes?

Kehinde: the only way I can stay out of trouble is just doing what they say.

Seyi: that is your own o.

Kehinde: so how is school.

Seyi: very good o, by this time next year, I am no longer a bloody civilian.

Kehinde: hahaha.

Seyi: what's funny?

Kehinde: look at your mouth, as if you can stand the presence of gunshots.

Seyi: me?? Funny you, don't you know am a changed person now? I am not afraid of anything o.

Kehinde: eh, that's how we will hear, when they transfer you to Borno now, you will start running.

Seyi: heh, me run? No just start o. Even if I will die there, I will make sure that over 50 insurgents die by my bullet o. Trust me na, am totally different now.

Kehinde: I wish so o.
***********

Blessing, Tope's friend came to visit her.

*bell rings*

Tope opened the door.

Tope: hey, Ble Ble, longest time.

Blessing: no see o, so what's up.

Tope: nothing o, we just dy.

Blessing: how family?

Tope: fine o, so what should I offer you.

Blessing: nothing o, I don't want to take anything, thank you.

Tope: you must take something o.

Blessing: you ehn, water will do.

Tope: Kehinde, Kehinde! Where is this girl?

Blessing: so because of water you are calling Kehinde? Show me the refrigerator let me go and bring it.

Tope: leave jor.
....... . . .....
Blessing: so what have you been upto lately?

Tope: nothing o, and you?

Blessing: same, do you know that I caught Frank and Linda?

Tope: doing what?

Blessing: am telling you something and you are asking something else.

Tope: see, mind your business o, if it is this that you've come to tell me, you better leave o.

Blessing: so you are asking me out because of Frank abi?
Tope: you heard me right.

Blessing: sorry for telling you o, don't be annoyed.

Tope: just change the Topic.

*Door opens*

Blessing: good afternoon ma.
Tope: welcome.

Tolu: heh, Blessing, big girl, how is school.

Blessing: we thank God o.

Tolu: you just ran away and left us.

Blessing: hahaha, no o.

Tolu: OK o.

...... ............

It's been three days now and Tunde is coming home today.

Tolu: Tope, why dont you join Kehinde in the kitchen. Your dad is going to be here anytime from now.

Tope: can't she prepare the dishes alone? Ah, me I don't have strength o.

Seyi: is there anytime that you will have strength? You are always busy with nothing or you don't have strength.

Tope: see, Seyi, don't even start, am not in the mood for your trash.

Seyi: see who is talking.

Tolu: Stop that both of you.

Seyi: see mummy, it's high time Tope starts acting like a lady o, not sitting and going out all day and doing nothing.

Tope: you think I have your time? *staring at her phone screen *

Seyi: you should know better.

......... ................

Tope: oh daddy, welcome *hugs her dad* missed you.

Tolu: welcome dear.

Seyi: welcome dad.

Tunde: thanks, I miss you too, where is Kehinde?

Kehinde: welcome daddy.

Tunde: thank you my dear, where were you?

Kehinde: was busy with something.

***************

Tunde: the journey was hectic, go slows, even the way soldiers were punishing drivers, funny men.

Tolu: hello, have you forgotten that you have one soldier here?

*they all laugh*

Seyi: mummy, you have started again o.

Kehinde: Seyi is not a bully o.
Seyi: don't mind them.

Tope: stay there and be deceiving yourself, as a matter of fact, you are a big bully.

Seyi: that's your own o.

Tunde: please, pa*s me that jug.

Kehinde pa*ses the jug to Tunde .

Tunde: hey, are those iron burns on your arm?......

What i'm reading is good but u can do better
Try challeng urself with unpridictable story-line and slightly improve on diction.....since u've invited 'Gurus' (my ogas at d top) into ur home then be assured of positive critizism.

You can do better, sir. Work on your descriptions, grammar and settings.

I'm a fellow-like, bro - or even, behind you but I certainly feel you could do better with your spacing and punctuations. Try going through Larrysun's recent topic, it should help, I think.
