PROVERBS OF MY MOTHER

"By all means, marry. If you get a good wife, you'll become happy; if you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher." - Socrates

My daughter take heed to your mother's life saving warning
Experience is a good teacher but it's never pleasant learning

As you leave this house, this day, to wear this your man's ring
Take this with you: You are a queen because he is your king

Learn never to surrender to friend's influence
A little distance from them makes a lot of difference

A wise wife makes her husband assume his position as head
Don't be fooled by the extreme feminists and take his stead

Modern day equality in marriage is all about partnership
Don't use competition to expose your sealed relationship

Don't insult your husband with Laws of woman rights
An angry man will always give his wife sleepless nights

You don't have to win all arguments, home is not Law Court
True victory lies in agreement, and silence don't always hurt

A man should be eager to return from work to his house
Don't turn his tranquility base to a cage of cat and mouse

Men are different, they go hungry of many things, not just food
So don't come every night saying you are tired and not in mood

It's lack of wisdom, to use sex as a weapon to your gain at home
It's the pursue of selfish interests that ruined the ancient Rome

Remember to keep bothering about your shape, size and gait
Your marriage does not stop others from using theirs as bait

Lastly, please do not tell me of your quarrels, don't even bother
When things fall apart, just tell it to God to help get it together

"By all means, marry. If you get a good wife, you'll become happy; if you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher." - Socrates

Socrates was a classical Greek (Athenian) philosopher who lived between 470 - 399 BC. He was credited as one of the founders of Western philosophy. He was a tutor to great men and has intimidating list achievements to his credit, making him unargueably a success story but his marriage to Xanthippe remains a shadow to the story of an enigmatic figure that once walked the face of our earth.

Xanthippe is often remembered as a shrew, a scolding wife who was a pain in the rear end for philosophy’s most prestigious character. The overwhelming consensus is that she was an argumentative, troublesome wife who was the source of many headaches for the philosopher. It was said that Xanthippe was so disagreeable that she once poured the contents of a chamber pot over the head of Socrates.

The above qoute was inspired by Socrates' sufferings from his wife.
