That's more like Judaism. Judaism thrives on obedience to the laws and commandments as the only key to being accepted by God. Christianity on the other hand focuses on confessing and accepting Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour. Anybody who forces you to practice the 10 Commandments to the letter but has nothing to say about confessing Christ is not a Christian. He's more of a Jew.
The backbone of Christianity is in the New Testament.
