Hi all

I've been looking into exporting from Nigeria to USA, UK, or Canada because of a growing market for Nigerian food products such as yam, palm oil, garri, golden morn, Milo, sardines, geisha and many other local food stuff. My interest is in supplying existing stores with food from Nigeria. I thought of this business idea as a way for me to earn foreign exchange and contribute to diversifying the export base of the Nigerian economy.

-Any ideas on how i can be a supplier or at least get on the supply chain of an existing larger supplier?
-What are the challenges on both ends (Nigeria and Foreign destinations mentioned above)?
-Is there a ban on exporting these food stuff from Nigeria or into foreign markets?
-How much capital do i need to start (minimum)?
-How do i start?!
-Or is the export business a NO NO for certain reasons? if not what other Nigerian products are hot here?

Please i know that no one is obligated to give me ideas but I'd be so happy to hear from people who know about this. I have a reasonable amount of money saved for this business and who knows where discussions could lead to for interested and genuine parties?! My e-mail is consult.hallmark@yahoo.com for anyone who wishes to talk privately.

Thanks everyone.
