Bayelsa state Governorship Election comes up on December 5th 2015.
Bayelsa state have never had it good with the type of leaders that bestrode the political space, from its creation by the General Sani Abacha led military government. From the era of Chief DSP Alameyeseigha to Hon Henry Seriake Dickson, Bayelsa state have been saddled with one OLOTU (strongman) with other minor 0LOTUS (strongmen) who appropriate the common patrimony of the Bayelsa people to themselves alone.
Tthe time has come when Bayelsans truly need a LEVEL HEADED PERSON at helm of affairs who will truly apply our limited resources for the development of our people and the State, one such person who has impressed most Bayelsans of late, is Engr. (Pst) Ogionwo Febo. His manifesto on how he intends to govern Bayelsa State is all encompassing- from Education, Healthcare, Transportation, Youth Empowerment, Agriculture, Job creation, Sustainable even development, etc is a must read for any person that aspires to lead his people. it will not be out of place if Nairalanders could reach out to other aspirants and contestants so that we could read an evaluate their manifestos. MISSION STATEMENT FOR MANIFESTO

ENGR. [PST] AUSTIN OGIONWO-FEBO

Simple, Soft spoken, Effective, Efficient

FOR GOVERNOR
CHAPTER ONE

THE MISSION

With the Creation of Bayelsa State on 1st October, 1996 out of the present Rivers State by Gen. Sani Abacha the New Bayelsa State consist of eight [8] LGAs and comprising of nine [9] indigenous ethnicities.

Because of its strategic economic and socio-political importance being the heart of the Niger-Delta, Bayelsa State attracts a large and ever increasing population of non-indigenous (Nigerians) to the State. The striking feature is the remarkable amity and peaceful co-existence between these indigenous ethnicities severally and collectively.

Since the Creation of the State in 1996, Eight administrators have ruled Bayelsa State. Each of them has contributed in one way or the other to the development of the State. However, these laudable and visible contributions notwithstanding, the State still has glaring developmental problems which may be summarized as follows.

 - Underdevelopment of basic infra-structure (roads, electricity, portable water housing and communications).

 - Dearth of urban centres only Yenagoa is considered a semi urban area by international standard.

 - Insufficiency and uneven spread of social services, and socio-economic opportunities;

 - High rate of unemployment, and poverty in the midst of plenty.

The sense of common and shared destiny with which the founding fathers of the State achieved their dream–State after years of struggle has suffered tremendous setback in recent times. Self seeking politician and self styled clannish and ethnic leaders have introduced divisive sentiment and geo-clannish dichotomies, which has raised inter-clannish and ethnic prejudices. Public office holders now tend to use their offices to promote narrow clannish and ethnic agenda rather than the overall public good, policy matters are increasingly over-politicized; and socio-political patronage lopsidedly distributed in favour of public officers clannish or ethnic group. All these ought not to be so.

The situation in our State poses the following set of socio-political and socio-developmental imperatives.

(1.) We must be more concerned with how the various clan/ethnicities of the State could come together, interact and understand themselves better irrespective of geographic divides; and share power in an egalitarian and equitable manner to the mutual satisfaction and benefit of all. This will replace the divisive prejudices and dichotomies sponsored by self-seeking politicians, with genuine sense of belonging and genuine aspiration for unity.

(2.) We must strive to build a morally and ethically sound society, a mature democratic society with a consensual focus that will instil a new set of value of human decency, equity and justice and further cement clan and ethnic integration and lasting peace. For this purpose, we must build physical as well as attitudinal bridge between the various clans and ethnicities of the State to achieve better interaction and mutual understanding.

(3.) We must endeavour to inspire and mobilize all our people and harness and prudently manage our enormous resources to guarantee security responsibility and equal opportunities for all.

(4.) Above all, we must direct all our endeavours at Building and Creating Healthy, Educated and Contented Bayelsa Individuals; Strong and Happy Bayelsa Families; Thriving and Progressive Bayelsa Communities, and a Strong, Peaceful, Egalitarian and Prosperous Bayelsa State that will occupy its place in a truly Federal, Supreme and Sovereign Nigeria Nation State.
This is my mission. - ENGR. (PST) AUSTIN OGIONWO FEBO
