No Case Of Pipeline Vandalism Since PMB Took Over – Power Ministry
The Ministry of Power said yesterday that since President Muhammadu Buhari assumed office three months ago, no single case of gas pipeline vandalism had been recorded.
The permanent secretary in the ministry, Mr. Godknows Igali, who gave the hint while addressing journalists at the presidential villa, Abuja, faulted the claim that power supply improved because of the rainy season.
He revealed that the hydro power stations in Kainji and Shiroro only contributed about 20 per cent of the entire electricity generated in Nigerian, adding that there are no substantial power additions coming from them.
Igali noted that the vandalisation of gas pipelines was recurrent in the last days and months of the previous administration, and reached its peak on May 26 when gas-generated electricity was completely grounded.
He added that things, however, started improving since the Buhari administration redoubled efforts in reaching out to communities where the pipelines are laid, to allow peace to reign.
This, he said, has led to increased gas supplies and improved power supply nationwide, which currently stands at 4,600 megawatts.
Igali explained that apart from President Buhari building on the efforts of past government and tasking stakeholders to increase their efforts, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo had been holding meetings almost on daily basis with power distribution companies (DISCOs) to fashion out new ways of improving power supply in the country.
β€œIt is no miracle, but a lot of work is being directed by the president and vice president. People are working in a more concerted manner to achieve the prevailing results,” the perm sec noted, adding that with these sustained efforts, more gas had been passing through the pipelines without obstruction.

If APC was responsible for vandalism under Jonathan's administration, what did jonathan do about it? He was in control of the army, navy, airforce, SSS, police, EFCC. If with all the power he had, he could not stop those making him look inefficient, can we therefore conclude that he was truly clue.less.
