Well I love Russia as much as I love America, but what I do know for a fact is that military, the US hold Russia in awe and deep respect and will dare not wish for a military confrontation against them, most especially when a leader or Putin's pedigree and clout is in power.

Even at that the US has an overwhelming nuclear capability. The US has planted missile defence systems in poland to stop a significant number of russian nuclear missiles from leaving europe before it even gets to america.
A nuclear war between russia and the US will be a victory for the US though at significantly great cost to the US and the rest of the world.
Russia will not survive it as they will get nuclear pounded by american forces and her allies, the US and the rest of the world though will be severely affected.
