No doubt, they are currently the biggest pop duo in Africa, and Jude Okoye who also double as the twins' elder brother and Manager has been at the heart of the success story but just like the adage 'pride goes before a fall' when you think

I remember a phone conversation between one of Primetime/Kennis Music bosses few years ago - I will refer to him herein as 'The Boss'. The Boss informed Jude Okoye of a medium-sized budget wedding his close relative was planning for and as one of the most respected relatives he was requested to get P square to perform at the wedding

The Boss requested from Jude for how much the fee to have P-square's presence would cost and Jude replied that it would cost N8 million. (Note that the boss whose platforms have in no small ways supported the P-square brand for several years, didnt request for any FREE performance)

The Boss however informed Jude that he will appreciate a consideration from N8 million to 6.5 or 7 million, and Jude replied that was the standard fee for Psqaure performance but The Boss should go back to the people organizing the wedding so as for the boss to collect his own commission separately (the standard in the music industry is to get commission from paid job/events brought forward to artistes/music professionals), but The Boss stated that he wasnt even mentioning anything about commission as he wasnt even interested but wanted a good wedding outing for his relative. Jude obviously impatiently confirmed to The Boss that '8 million Naira or nothing and even if his mama begged for any reduction, he wouldnt obliged'. The Boss on hearing this informed Jude to check his phone and see name of person calling (The Boss mentioning his own name here so Jude would know it was The Boss), Jude replied in affirmation that of course he knew it was him calling which was why he was still 'wasting' precious time discussing with him on phone and then hurriedly hung up!

Popular Nigerian Fuji maestro, Pasuma who has also experienced similar bitter pills in hands of Jude Okoye and Peter Okoye has also vowed never ever to have anything to do with the duo or his manager and of course, the list goes on and we will witness more industry professionals opening up from time to time.

Although, it is worrisome among Nigerian music practitioners of greedy money-for-airplay culture among Nigeria media outfits and award organisers as it is not only peculiar to one media outfit, genuinely good artistes would 'kill' to have just 5% of media exposure Soundcity has given Psquare (a lot of us have even complained as regard the huge rotations Soundcity even gives to American artistes on their station compare to ones they could help to give upcoming artistes)

Major among the functions of an artiste manager is how to manage the public relations of your artiste in the media and public eyes. Media
have the power to make the public love or hate you, but if as an artiste manager alongside your artiste now trying to tilt public opinion against a media outfit who helped in small ways in blossoming your career from days when you were still struggling but new-comer Dbanj and Mohits crew then were already making 1 - 2 million Naira per show and bagging corporate endorsements, when they and Tuface and others were still charging N50,000 to N300,000 per show (yes, confirmed!)

With this arrogant stunt played out by the Okoyes against Soundcity in the form of social media rants against Souncity (one wonder where they threw their PR to?), although they are soundcity's competitors, other media outfits would be cautious of committing much of their 'promotional platform investment' for Psquare brand to avoid similar ingratitude from the duo and manager

One wonders if Jude Okoye's Cythia Morgan wont also be affected

It was very easy for you to write what you know and what you don't know about P-Square but rather very hard for you to mention the so-called 'The boss' name. Who doesn't know that you made this story up. You are jealous!

All I see from your write-up is tribalism. If P-square was Yoyobar you wouldn't have seen any fault in him at all.

When people can't afford P-square they term them rude.

If your money can't buy a g-wagon why not buy KIA? Why criticise G-wagon?

You can't afford P-square, why not go for Idris Abdulkarrim or even D'banj?
