Hello , pls I am a Nigerian doctor planning to work in the UK .I was in a residency programme in Nigeria which I never had in mind to finish , in the hope that my exiting plans out of Nigeria to Canada would have come to pass by then, however due to one thing or the other I couldn't leave the country until my time in the program was exhausted I had absolutely no interest in the programme due to the unserious nature of the naija system( I didn't even register for a second college exams) , I went into it mainly to make money.I have zero interest in working in Nigeria and hence I now have a one year gap on my cv because I have already worked in PP before residency and I really didn't like it with pay and all .I am writing plab 1 in november and by March next year I ll write plab 2.How will my gap affect my registration with the GMC and practice in the UK .Does the UK conduct background checks on hospitals where one has worked before because I actually plan to fill the space up with some fictitious hospitals. I have over 10 years of practise in nigeria I don't need any more I just want to do my exams and get out of this useless country. If u have any ideas on how I can go about filling up this gap ( my dilemma) kindly comment or if u can confirm that the UK doesn't actually conduct any checks. Thanks

Pls do not fill up with any false documents because that’s where your problem will start. Just declare the gap. GMC won’t give you any problems, tell them you took a break for family issues or personal issues whatever. Just don’t lie. People with even 10yrs career gap have GMC registration with no hassles.

Thanks , however I am still open to other ideas or someone who had a similar experience and navigated the system easily.Systems have a way of using things against you when it may not have really mattered, that gap may be used against me at job interviews in the UK.

Not necessarily. You will easily get a non training job with your years of experience.

good morning senior colleagues, pls I need an advice from u am a post NYSC doctor with surgical skills.
I have decided to open my own private practice coz I noticed working colleagues PP what u get as pay compared to what u make for the hospital is nothing to write home about.
so I want to know what is the process of establishing a small private hospital in a virgin town were there is no hospital.
secondly is it possible to start running such hospital before registration?
I hope to save money and write USMLE and leave Nigeria later.

if you are in the East and is interested in PLAB, MRCP, IELTS USMLE materials, mock tests , lecture note videos and audio files, contact me and collect it for free.

have quite a lot and it's taking too much space on my laptop.
come with your hard drive, at least 10 GB free space. if you are outside that area make arrangements to pick it up.

would be in the West soon so call for updates.
alternatively, if you have someone I can drop it with as a storage bank for people to access also let me know.
finally, you can get some but not all the books only at cambodiamed1. (.)com.
seriously if you can get out of this country.
chief good morning ooooooo please I need your help ooo

Spot on bro'. You got it all right. My younger brother is in SA and has been facing this kind of discrimination as in, its difficult for foreigners to actually get to do their residency in that place. I hear the only residency they are allowed to do is in Family Medicine as opposed to 'juicy' areas like Neuro, OandG, Surgery, etc.

What he wants to do now is what you suggested. He has done an MSc and is going on to pursue a PhD. He intends to end up being an 'academic' doctor where he becomes a researcher/lecturer. Later on, he says that he may return to do his residency, that is if he is still interested. The funny thing though, is that whatever direction you go in Medicine - whether to become a consultant/specialist, or Lecturer/researcher, they (Doctors) always get to make their money.
Gud day sir,
can i get a M.SC degree or PH.D in clinical neurophysiology after completing a B.sc degree in human physiology?

Good day my fellow colleagues in the House. I'm a Doctor at Delta state and I wish to relocate to South Africa but the problem is I don't know the process to follow. I've gotten quite a number of info online but I would appreciate if any Doctor in SA or anyone who knows what the process is like to share. Thanks in advance!

Good day all. I am a Greencard holder and I have currently finished medical school. Looking for house job has been tough. I am thinking of abandoning it to face my USMLE. I am however scared if my decision to abandon housemanship would affect me in the future negatively.

Hope you finally started your housejob (its better you have your full license in nigeria) before exiting. Sent you a pm.
