Good evening pals, we have been contacted by a new client that to paint his newly built duplex. I call it the " WHITE HOUSE". This is because white will be painted all thru, e every where.

Brief intro:
PAINTING OF A 7 ROOM DUPLEX WITH PENT HOUSE AT INDEPENDENCE LAYOUT, ENUGU IN FRONT OF FEDERAL GOVERNMENT COLLEGE, ENUGU.

PAINTING DURATION: 2 WEEKS.
PRODUCT RANGE: INTER COLOR SILK AND MATT
CLIENT: AN ABROAD RETURNEE.

first, we had to sandpaper the screeded surface to be ready for painting.

I get some questions for you.

Is it better to do electrical fittings first or paint first, I do not want stains on walls but yet I dont want to see patches of unpainted areas.
Which paint is the best for outside and inside ? especially kitchens that can be easily cleaned/wiped off ?
I hear Dulux, but i dont know.
How do you estimate how much paint is needed for a job ?
Lastly, Do you sand the walls before painting or you only paint and waka ? my burglary was sprayed by the welder. Does it need to be painted with brush by you guys ?

First, it is better to do electrical fittings first and paint later. As a matter of fact, painting should only come before house cleaning.the pictures shown above was taken 2weeks ago, while the painting will only start tomorrow. I can tell u that the fittings are all ready in place now. We will tape it to prevent paints stain.

Secondly. Your choice of paint depend on your preference and kind of structure. If is screed, then silk emulsion is usually used, matt too. If is not screed, high quality emulsion, or matt may be applied. Even textcoat can be used.

Another thing that determines the choice of paint to use is whether the house is private or for rent.

About kitchen, if not screed, gloss paint can be applied. You can wipe and clean in case of dirt. If screed, silk is applied as it has 100% washability.

Dulux is a very high superior quality paint. It has made name for itself. It is good but very expensive. Based on your budget, you can either use it or use silk emulsion affordable paint by other companies and still achieve the same washable shinny finish if the walls are screed. The truth is if you can afford it, use it, Dulux is Dulux.

Upload or send me pictures of your job and I will give you the painting estimates. You can help by giving description of the room sizes. For Dulux paints,every product has a spreading rate.

No painter paints and waka. If the wall is screed, you sandpaper it. If is rough u scrap and fill it up then you paint. If this is not done, the painting becomes an eye sore.

Your bulgary should be painted.

hello euro million, in all honesty, that white paint won't last long before repainting. If the house is situated in an area that is not tarred, dust will further male it dirty.

but my client insisted on white all through. I advised him against it and even suggested off white, yet he insisted. the house is under going cleaning now and within the weeks I will do some retouchings for him.

the client knows the pros and con's of painting white, but it is his decision.

Started work today on this block of 4 flats at new artisan, near jubilee estate, Enugu today. It is the first project of my friend, we actually attended same uni, was his senior by abt 3 yes in sch. Read management and he read Building Engineering.

So was called some days back to check it out and today we commences work. Its a low budget project but we are compromising quality.

Brief introduction:

Painting of block of 4 flats ( 2 bedroom each) one storey building. Product range: Sharon emulsion paint for all interior and Alnak textured paint for the outside.

Project duration is 6 working days.

Client: Bluestride Engineering.
