While at home with parents, they will gladly accept to do the less strenuous works while the male do otherwise. At school, they will shy away from strenuous sports activities. While dating a guy, they will wait for a guy that they love to come and tell them that he loves them. They will want the guy to open doors for them. They will want the guy to be the one to pay for them when they both go to restaurants, cinemas etc etc. They will expect the guy to always spend much money to prove his love and they will want the guy to be the one to pay for most of wedding expenses. Yet... they cry to high heavens about guys not treating them as equal

You can't b equal because you are not our equal. Even so called feminists here want preferential treatment because they are female. Hypocrites!
the most hypocritical part about feminists

First of all.. this is what we, the feminists are fighting against. In the Nigerian environment there is discrimination against women. African men in general have the Alpha-like feeling that they are the boss of the boss.

Women across all cultures generally prefare masculine men to feminized ones.Take the rugby world cup for example, have you seen how physically "built" the players are?Tell me you don't like what you see

Is being feminist a bad thing? undecided
There is nothing generally wrong with seeking for equal opportunities for the female folk.My grouse with these so called feminists is the way they don't want to pay thesame sacrifices men paid to attain the top positions. They seem to want everything to be handed to them on a silver plate and the way they demonize men inorder to justify their point of view completely disgusts me.You want something?Strive hard to get your desires instead of trying to guilt men into giving you handouts

Interesting comments.

I admire and have nothing but love for women who takes financial responsibility in relationship/marriage and don't have a problem relating with them on equal footing. But I find it hypocritical and selfish for any woman who doesn't or can't take up equal share of bills in a relationship to champion gender equality crusade.

Until feminists and their pseudo egalitarianism cronies learn to take up responsibility their equality charade is dead before it even commences. May amadioha disfigure the mouth of any lady who would expect and demand I fund her hairdo, dinner dates and other monetary gesture and expect equality. What codswallop.

When your male colleague offers you his seat on a bus because he considers you weak to stand for too long; though there are other guys standing, do you reject the seat? no you gladly accept his offer.
Tomorrow at work an issue springs up and you're trying to lecture the same colleague on gender equality; do you think he'd take you serious?

What you "feminists" want is not equality, what you actually want is selective equality.

Your argument is invalid because if he offered the same seat to a guy, the guy will gladly take it too. It does not follow.

Nigerian men aren't just macho and that ordinary one get as e be sha, but let's presume it's not bad.

From NL was where I learned how deeply misogynistic they are and tbh I think it's a frustration thing. Everyone wants to be better than someone else, that's just human nature. And so the more 'base' a guy is, as in the more lowly his mentality and his prospects, the more he will harp on the 'fact' that he's better than women.

Essentially the losers among them feel good that no matter how useless they are, they're still 'better' than all females. It's a psychological issue I'm not sure it can be fixed

They're not all like that tho grin

if you admire guys who are physically well built,(thereby alpha by their very nature)why were you trying to shame african men for their "alphaness" in your earlier post?

As for respect and equality,I see nothing wrong with that as long as women are ready to go through the difficult trajectories to the top men always experience without a helping hand(no quota,no positive discrimination,no affirmative action)Nothing

yes some men look down on women. that is due to upbringing & culture. the good thing is; naija men are flexible, ever willing to compromise, especially the educated ones. the problem is naija women refusing to stand up & be counted. no man looks down on NOI, Ezeakwesili et al. men dnt respect other men cos of there gender but cos of achievements and hard work. so ladies, WOMAN UP and go get ur respect.

I merely used my post to correct "vinchus" notion that being an alpha man is a negative quality rather than a positive and desired trait(by women including feminists) in men. That was why I also included the photo of a high profile actress and self proclaimed feminist emma watson with her rugby playing alpha bf matt janney.I simply exposed "vinchus" hypocrisy

First of all.. this is what we, the feminists are fighting against. In the Nigerian environment there is discrimination against women. African men in general have the Alpha-like feeling that they are the boss of the boss.

And they present it in a way that women are lesser than they are. It's true. Even in the economy, the top positions in offices are run by Men, even major paying jobs are run by Men. Women are mostly traders (Petty) why?

All government offices are headed by Men. In fact I heard a news that a state in South East Nigeria appointed a Man to head women affairs. How long would this continue?

A guy does a favor for you, he expects a Mouth Action. Why?

They feel when they marry you they are doing you are favor. WTF?

If a girl express her feelings towards a guy she cares about.. she is cheap.

I was at an event last week and a guy requested my contact info and I was hesitant in releasing it to him then he offered me money. Why? Like I'm some LovePeddler? Most men have the idea that all women are prostitutes. .direct and indirect that we all love money. It's rude and disrespectful but who cares? It's Men's world.

A girl is raped they blame the girl for her dressing and no one blames the guy. Continue.. there is God.

No one cares about a girl's opinion in a conversation once 3 guys have spoken.. whether it's good or bad it's settled.

I do not blame these men because women are in the shadows. It's time to start fighting for our place in the society and stop feeding them that ego or giving them the chance to feel on top.

So @Op, not Nigeria alone. .it's everywhere.

If you want to get married make sure you use brute force.

The same chick will be like I wanna marry an alpha male who can make me feel secured, who can provide for my needs and take care of me. Good luck marrying a soft nigga with no balls. One day, you'll wake up and start hating him "what a weakling".

You feminists say you want equal rights but be honest, how many women put equal efforts? How many women want to become police women, SOLDIERS, engineers, boxers (LOL) etc. They are too difficult for you women abi? You want to do fashion designing, accounting, business management, law etc. Jobs that don't involve RISKING YOUR LIVES! Please I'm talking in general o, I don't care if your aunt is in the army. You're blinded by your own ideas you don't wanna face facts, facts that women are dependent, softer, emotional creatures and men are the dominant, tougher, logical creatures. God designed things this way for balance: Day/night, man/woman, good/evil, life/death etc.

BUT if you still wanna continue being a feminist (thank you for wasting my time) STOP ATTACKING MEN FOR BEING STRONGER AND ATTACK WOMEN FOR BEING WEAKER! Start with, blaming your kind for being financially dependent, physically weak and too damn emotional. Tell them to be the providers and the protectors...or just, PLAY YOUR ROLE AND SHUT YOUR MOUTH!

If your daughter told you that she wants to be an engineer, would you tell her she should play her role and shut her mouth? Would you tell her that she is supposed to be dependant on a man her entire life?

And why are you assuming that I attack men for being strong?

All these anti-feminist rants don't make sense. Feminism means DON'T TELL ME THAT BECAUSE I'M A WOMAN I CAN'T DO ANYTHING. Gbam. That is feminism. If a woman begins hating men, then that is misandry. There is a difference between feminism and misandry. I am a feminist (as some guys are) but I am in NO way a misandrist.

You said that women want to work in easy jobs and not the same jobs as men? In Sweden, men and women are equal in ANY job place. Sweden is ranked as the most gender equal country in the world. Nigeria on the other hand is at 118 out of 142 countries. Even India was ranked above us and that country is known as the rape capital of the world. The way they disrespect women is appalling.

I'm telling you that female brains are not made lesser than males. It's society and culture that raises women to be inferior. God didn't create them that way.

They actually didn't ask for it. If the guy thinks the woman is weak so he should stand up, that is his decision because he believes women are weak. The girl didn't open her mouth to say she wants to sit down. In fact she may have been fine standing.

To me, feminism is saying "Look, I'm not financially dependent , physically weaker and emotionally needy like majority of the women. So, I wanna change how men look at ALL WOMEN because of me and a few other exceptional women". You and other feminists are suffering from the reputation women have shown since the beginning of time...THEN YOU BLAME MEN FOR IT (the funniest part). You should be blaming majority of women for being the traditional woman.

Concerning the the job sector, the most lucrative jobs require aggressive qualities men MAINLY possess: oil and gas, construction, computer and engineering technology etc. not modelling, fashion designing etc dominated by women because they are more interested in looking nice. Ranting for Nigerian women will not do anything. Why? Because they are busy enjoying the benefits of being taken care of, of being protected. But who protects and provides for the man? The woman? I categorically doubt that.

Maybe in Sweden, women are ACTUALLY PROVING to be as capable in every job sector. Definitely not in Nigeria, where women focus more on getting married or being in a relationship with a made man than being a MADE WOMAN. All I hear is: SHOPPING, BIG WEDDING, MARRIAGE, RELATIONSHIP, KIDS, FASHION, OTHER WOMEN, HANGING WITH BFFS, CELEBRITY GOSSIP, HAVING 2000 NICE PICTURES OF HERSELF, HOT GUYS, VACATION etc. Too many distractions. Do you know what we men think of here? Being successful and showing the world, being a provider, being alpha, sex, sports, the end. Men here in Nigeria are more driven to make money.

why would a man do you a favor and expect a mouth action. is it all guys that behave this way.........if you dont want to find yourself in such situation, then stop accepting favors.

why will you say when a lady is raped , the blame goes to her for indecent dressing.......if you go through the threads about rape on NL, no one ever blames the lady because rape is babaric and should never be condoned. everyone here(guys and ladiez) condems rape

you dont need to be bias about this. ladies have a good place in this modern society, maybe not enough but a good place.

the make up and roles of a woman/mother/wife sometimes makes it difficult for her to find herself in some very high/stressful/tasking/time consuming positions men occupy.

I also commend you for arguing logically and respectfully. smiley smiley you have a point but Feminism is still very important. Misandry and Misogyny should be completely eradicated from all societies.

On an additional note, I suppose Nigeria's backwardness is too complex. I personally do not dedicate my entire life to fighting the for the Feminist Movement because Nigeria has bigger problems BUT I am still a feminist. If everyone was feminist, there would be no reason for women to shout FEMALE INEQUALITY because it wouldn't be a problem. Also please Sir when you see a woman, try not to assume that she is without ambition because she knows about the last episode of the kardashians. I have enjoyed this argument so far.

I get you and I'm pretty sure I would have been a feminist if I was Swedish. Maybe in Sweden, women are enjoying equal rights in workplaces because women are equally driven professionally NOT because they simply ranted about it on YouTube lol. Hope you get my point.

You sef, you should know your fellow naija gals and being typically too dependent on her man. Feminist movement in naij is a big joke on a crack ya ribs level lol. No offense. This brings me to a good question though. In Nigeria, do you think women being equally financially capable will be good for relationships/marriages? Think Hollywood before you answer.

Do you find smart guys like me attractive? I mean, a guy that can challenge you the way I'm doing now has to be appealing somehow.

Hello Nairaland! This is my first post cheesy I've been on Nairaland for a long time but I've never real felt the need to post anything before but this topic was paining me and confusing me at the same time.

As a bonefide Naija babe (REPRESENT), I made up my mind that when I am ready to marry, I MUST marry a Nigerian guy or I would rather die single (nothing wrong with this sha). The only issue I'm encountering thus far is that the Nigerian guys I've met are very misogynistic I don't even understand why. Growing up I was told that as a child of God I could do ANYTHING but I suppose that Nigerian male ego trumps God's word undecided undecided

So this is a question to all the Alpha-Males out there! Why do you believe that women are less than you? I didn't grow up with this ideology at home and neither did my brothers so I would like some clarification!! smiley smiley

Please remember to be respectful in your answer pleeease! No insults because it's not necessary for healthy discussion. cheesy patiently waiting for answers!

When women don't want to settle for someone who will give them peace of mind. Alpha males have spontaneous mind and their mission is always to seek, sample and destroy as much female entities as they can. Try Betta, Gamma males and you will forget the word misogynist.
