JEDDAH: Faisal bin Hassan Trad, the permanent representative of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations Office in Geneva, said the Kingdom has been the most generous country in the world in the field of development and humanitarian aid over the past four decades.
“Saudi Arabia donated, during this period, more than $115 billion to more than 90 countries all over the world,” said the Saudi ambassador to the UN during a symposium at the Geneva Press Club in the Swiss capital, which was managed by the Swiss Foreign Ministry. The symposium was attended by officials from King Salman Humanitarian and Relief Center (Ksrelief).
The ambassador gave a detailed briefing during the event on the vision, goals and the nature of work of the center, adding that Saudi Arabia has always led other countries in terms of the application of humanitarian values and principles in relief and support.
Ambassador Trad said that Ksrelief was derived from the good and tolerant values of Islam, the religion of peace, grace, humanity and dignity.
The symposium was attended by Maher Hadraoui, CEO of the Ksrelief center, Richard Brennan the director of emergency risk management and humanitarian response at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Rashid Khalikov director of the office for coordination of humanitarian affairs, Alexander Khan assistant general director for UNICEF’s Office of Emergency Programs, and Amin Awad director for Middle East and North Africa operations at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
Ambassador Trad said that Saudi Arabia, stemming out of its obligations and commitments toward the brotherly Yemeni people, was the only country that responded to the humanitarian assistance appeal launched by the UN to help Yemen by extending a donation of $274 million.
“The Kingdom also signed a number of agreements to extend food and medicines, in addition to other needs for mother and child affairs, and to rehabilitate health institutions in Yemen,” said the ambassador.
Maher Hadraoui said although the center was founded only four months ago it has become a leading international institution fully dedicated to humanitarian aid and to provide relief to distressed communities.
The Saudi delegation showcased films on the center’s activities in providing humanitarian assistance to Yemen.
Khalikov said of the activities of the center: “We have a copy on the figures of the funds donated by the center and it reveals large monetary aid which is not even possible to collect from a large number of countries.”
Brennan added the center always coordinates with WHO for channeling medicines and medical equipment to Yemen.
“I only can say this is quality assistance that has met the basic needs of distressed people,” he added, praising the noble goals of the center and its achievements in such a short period.

The kingdom (House of Saud) has also been the most generous in the world in funding ISIS and Wahabi Jihadists from Timbuktu to Yemen. That country whom I'll henceforth refer to as the "House of Saud", is nothing short of a a franchise run by one family only, the Al Sauds. For the past 4 months now, and against the support of the people of Saudi, the House of Saud have been bombing the poor neighbouring country of Yemen 24/7 killing thousands of innocent civilians (Ofcourse, its all hush-hush in the western media), and has shut its doors to the country refugees, and yet they are here bragging about their "humanitarian aid" to that poor country. Shame on them.

The House of Saud (fully backed by Western Countries ofcourse) is synonymous with corruption & tyranny, and are the major financier and exporter of Extremist Jihadists in the world. The House of Saud see Islamic extremists in Saudi as the greatest threat to their perpetual hold-on to power. Rather than curtail them at home, they choose the easy path. Saudi Intelligence "export" them out, to burn-off steam doing "jihad" in other countries like Libya, Syria , Iraq & Afghanistan etc, rather than foment political trouble at home. After many decades, they got so good at it, that they bagan using those elements as political tools to destabilize nations they perceive as enemies to the House of Saud.

The House of Saud "donate" $billions in so-called charity, and spend atleast 60$billions annually in American weapons it doesn't need( or worse doesn't even know how to use), but turn blind eye to the ever growing population of poverty stricken people in Saudi, or the plight of millions of Muslim refugees fleeing war-toned countries decimated by their petro dollars Jihadi groups.

I am not a paid servant of the ruling family but I hate lies being spread by ignorant folks. He said Saudi sponsor Jihadists which is a blatant lie, I've researched the issue and was able to separate the truth from falsehood. The stated goal of Jihadists worldwide is to kill the members of the ruling al-Saud family which they considered to be apostates. Before the terrorists exported their ideologies to Western shores the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have been battling with terrorists using clerics to defeat the ideologies of the khawarij (terrorists) and security apparatus to defeat their foot soldiers and various cells. How would the ruling family finance those are after their rule? Visit: https://www.islamagainstextremism.com for more if you want to know more and salafitalk.com

^^Please stop defending the undefendable. I am a muslim too, but he is very right on this. Saudi Monarchs financing of extremist Jihadist in Libya & Syria is no open secret at all. Even its western allies are no longer ashamed to say it out loud. Btw, BBC just reported that Saudi is upping its arm supply to the so-called Syrian Rebels. Only a fool/hypocrite would say those arms aint going to ISIS & Al-Nusra front. There hasnt been any proof from the US and its allies that the FSA still exist.

Gulf Arabs 'stepping up' arms supplies to Syrian rebels

Saudi Arabia is responding to the recent Russian air strikes on Syrian rebels by stepping up its supplies of lethal weaponry to three different rebel groups, a Saudi government official has told the BBC.

The well-placed official, who asked not to be named, said supplies of modern, high-powered weaponry including guided anti-tank weapons would be increased to the Arab- and western-backed rebel groups fighting the forces of Syria's President Bashar al-Assad and his Russian, Iranian and Lebanese allies.

He said those groups being supplied did not include either Islamic State (IS) or al-Nusra Front, both of which are proscribed terrorist organisations. Instead, he said the weapons would go to three rebel alliances - Jaish al-Fatah (Army of Conquest), the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and the Southern Front.

The official added that Qatar and Turkey have been instrumental in maintaining Saudi support for Sunni rebels fighting both Assad's forces and, at times, the extremists of IS. Russia brands as terrorists all rebels opposing its ally, President Assad, including those trained by the US.
The Saudi official did not rule out supplying surface-to-air missiles to the rebels, a move resisted by many in the West for fear that they would fall into the hands of IS and end up being used to shoot down warplanes of the US-led Coalition or even civilian airliners.

'A new jihad'

Separately, a senior Gulf Arab official has voiced his fears that Russia's military intervention in Syria will trigger a new jihad, or 'holy war' and a repeat of Russia's disastrous experience in Afghanistan in the 1980s.

The official, who asked to remain anonymous, told journalists in London that during last week's UN General Assembly in New York, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was warned by Arab diplomats that his country's actions in Syria were creating what he called "a Frankenstein's monster" that would draw in vast numbers of jihadists intent on "liberating" Syria of Russians, Iranians and Hezbollah fighters from Lebanon. He said Russia's response had been to intensify its airstrikes.

However, the Gulf official admitted that after more than four years of conflict in Syria and over 250,000 deaths, neither the West nor the Gulf Arab states had a strategy for resolving it.

He said there was a need for clearer US leadership and that the worst thing now would be for the West to accept a compromise that allowed Syria's President Assad to remain in power, even for a limited period.
