A little research has made me realise that one major reason behind fixed charges on electricity bills is to cater for maintenance and improvement of the equipment. But I would definitely if this is justifiable seeing what happens in our country today.

Here is my story:

A community spends months contributing money to buy transformer. After procuring that, they would be advised to quickly by cables and poles so that they can be connected without delay..... That takes another set of months. When all is bought, you'll still have to pay phcn staff to come and fix. Even the boys that come to site must also be settled. In the end, as soon as it is connected, the transformer automatically becomes phcn property (the community becomes helpless).

Even with all these, stable supply isn't guaranteed. What is probably guaranteed is increased fixed cost again and increased tariff. And the successor phcn companies are just feeding fat from the populace.

I submit that this is the height of exploitation.

We will work on that ......Buhari

in other news, the only way to have a fixed charge is by providing very stable power

Otherwise ensuring electronic card reading meter , power can not be consumed equally, but if your meter is reading your consumption and your reloadable card is being deducted , no one would feel cheated

only monthly charges would be fixed in this case

power consumption is not the same , so use electric meter , electronic rechargeable card , and ensure constant power supply this will ensure that those who use less power won't feel cheated

actually this was dabullit's comment dunno why they removed it
