CAMEROON vs NIGERIA (1984 AFCON FINAL)

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon won their first African Cup of Nations title at the 14th edition of the tournament at the expense of the Green Eagles of Nigeria.

Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny, Abidjan in Cote d' Ivoire, was the venue of the final and it was Nigeria's Muda Lawal that scored the first goal of the match in the 10th minute.

René Brice N'Djeya (32nd minute), Theophilus Abega (79th minute) and Ernest-Lottin Ebongue (84th minute) scored three goals to wrestle the game from Nigeria as the Lions roared to a 3-1 win over coach Adegboye Onigbinde's men.

CAMEROON vs NIGERIA (1988 AFCON FINAL)

This was the final of the African Cup of Nations at the Stade Mohamed V, Casablanca in Morocco on the 27th of March 1988.

The Nigerian team had been most bookmakers' favourites for the Africa Cup of Nations title. Sadly Nigeria lost the game. The referee that officiated the final, Idrissa Sarr. from
Mauritania overruled a Henry Nwosu headed goal that many saw as a legitimate effort.

Cameroon's Emmanuel Kunde scored a penalty for his team in the 55th minute which proved the match winner eventually in the tight 1-0 win for the Lions.

Both sides had met in the group stages and it ended 1-1.  The late Samuel Okwaraji had scored Nigeria's goal, a pile drive from 25 yards, but Cameroon had  pegged back to score an equaliser through the ageless Roger Milla.

NIGERIA vs CAMEROON (2000 AFCON FINAL)

Another African Cup of Nations final between the two African rivals.

The game on 13th February 2000 ended 2-2 at full time at the Lagos National Stadium with Samuel Etoo (26th minute) and Patrick Mboma (31st minute) scoring to put the Lions ahead but goals by master dribbler and midfield wizard Austin 'Jay Jay' Okocha (45th minute) and Chukwu Ndukwe (47th minute) restored parity.

However the Indomitable Lions broke the hearts of millions of Nigerian fans by controversially winning the ensuing penalty shootout.
Super Eagles forward Victor Nosa Ikpeba scored a 'legitimate spot kick' which had gone underneath the cross bar but rather than roll inside the net, the ball which television replays aptly captured to have crossed the line bounced out of the lines and the match referee, Mourad

Daami from Tunisia, ruled to be a missed kick.
Nwankwo Kanu also missed his effort but Okocha, Godwin Okpara and current Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, converted their kicks.

It was the third straight AFCON final victory for Cameroon over Nigeria.

NIGERIA vs CAMEROON (2004 AFCON QUARTER-FINALS)

The Stade Mustapha Ben Jannet Stadium in Monastir, Tunisia on 8th February 2004 was the venue of the quarter-final game between Nigeria and Cameroon in 2004.

Samuel Eto'o had put the Cameroonians ahead in the 42nd minute but Austin 'Jay Jay' Okocha's 45th minute freekick and John Utaka's 73rd minute's silky finish made it two breathtaking goals to ensure the Eagles won 2-1 and in the last four of the tournament.

It was sweet revenge for the Eagles for all the years of pain from their neighbours.
Okocha was the Most Valeuable Player of the 2004 AFCON and joint Golden boot winner with four goals to his credit.

Keshi and westerholf remain the best.
I never liked Oliseh, how can an inexperienced coach be our coach. Another thing is that he should try and build his team with the home and foreign based players;like 50-50 because our home based are fitter than those eternal bench warmers in Europe.
Home based lads like Ezekiel bassey, chikatara,Adeniji,Onobi, stephen Eze,Egbinoba, udoji,Emmanuel Anyanwu,Aloma,Kwambe,Salami and others should share the nucleus of the team with the foreign based players playing regularly

Since some of them said the time for Nigeria, Congo match was 7pm.. and the match started at 6pm, so it means they are 1hr ahead of us. thus, This one will start at 7:00pm or 8:00pm Nigerian Time

Oliseh is a good pundit, but pundits can never be good managers. E.g Alan Shearer. Oliseh will need time and patience to adjust to the job. I have taken my mind off qualification for AFCON or next world cup.
