Any latest news about the Natcom Job ? NATCOM Development and Investment Limited through its acquisition of Nigerian Telecommunications NITEL and Nigerian Mobile Telecommunications, MTEL has said it will provide 4,000 jobs as the company is set to roll out its own telecommunication lines in March, 2016. Chairman of the company, Olatunde Ayeni said the telecoms company, which is to roll out in three major cities of the country, namely Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt, offers 4G/LTE services and would address 3G customers’ needs for mobile broadband services. Ayeni made the disclosure while presenting the company’s work-plan before the joint Committee on Communications and Commercialisation and Privatisation of the House of Representatives, who expressed concerns over the agitation in different quarters. He said the whooping sum of $1bn has so far been injected into the revival of the NITEL and MTEL. The Chairman said, assets also acquired by NATCOM included assets, licenses of NITEL and MTEL and percentage interests held in South-Atlantic 3 (SAT-3) consortium as well as identifiable assets capable of generating viable business units. He added the, Nigerian Communication Commission, NCC, has proceeded to assign another set of microwave frequency ranges to NATCOM upon request, at a pro-rated N176.8 million, computed on the basis of 800 base station network. Ayeni stressed “NITEL/MTEL did not have to pay for the use of the frequencies for which they enjoyed exclusive assignment”. Through NATCOM’s acquisition of the telecommunications companies it will have access to 40MHz of 900/1800MHz spectrum that was previously used to provide 2G/GSM voice services, while the company has further acquired 7.5MHz of 1900MHz spectrum. |
