Mere looking at the diagram shows that X =30 degrees. Looking at ur set- square wu tell u that Angle 60 degrees is larger than the one shown in the diagram. This is how people fail simple exam. See how they have been proving upon proving since getting 60 degrees grin

spacyzuma:
It's 60 degrees.

Total sum of internal angles in a polygon = (n-2)*180

For a 12-sided polygon, it's (12-2)*180 = 1800

Thus, each internal angle is 1800/12 = 150.

The next part is hard to explain without diagrams, though.

For the 2 adjacent coins, the sum of their internal angles where they meet is 150 + 150 = 300.

At that point, the total angle is 360 degrees (angle around a point, or in a circle)

Thus, the angle X = 360 - 300 = 60 degrees

Very correct !!...kudos

This is JSS geometry.

D) 60deg. Angles in a circle = 360. Since there are 12 chords, angle at the inside of each chord triangle is 30, the sides of the chords 75 each (angle inside triangle = 180). Including the ones on the other coin = 75×4 = 300. So x is 60. (Angle round a circle is 360deg)
Yes.. I got 60 degrees.. although I applied a different method.

*******

Since the coins have 12 sides each, it logically follows that the angle each of them will form is 30 degrees [360/12] when a line is drawn from each chord to the centre. Therefore, each base of the drawn triangle will be 30 degrees. Consequently, the angle at the centre will be 120 degrees (180 - [30 + 30]).

I remember a circle theorem which states,

"The angle at the centre of a circle is twice the angle at the circumference if both angles stand on the same arc."

Based on that law, 2X = 120;

X = 120/2;

X = 60 degrees.

Some people just love arguing blindly... It's so obvious the answer is 60.. As a matter of fact,i think the triangle is nothing but a distraction.. TOTAL ANGLE OF EACH POLYGON= (n-2)180, where n is the number of sides of polygon which are 12 sides.. Therefore,(12-2)180= 1800..) EACH INTERIOR ANGLE OF POLYGON= TOTAL INTERIOR ANGLE/NO OF SIDES= 1800/12=150... notice the sides of the polygon were match as well as there angles,creating another angle X.. Angle at a point is 360.. To get X, simply say X=360-(150+150)=60....

60 degrees.
Each angle of a polygon = 180(n - 2)/n
For 12-sided polygon, each angle
= 180 (12 - 2)/12 = 150 deg
X = 360 - (150 + 150) = 60
This is the best approach so far.

Each angle of a polygon = 180(n - 2)/n
For 12-sided polygon, each angle
= 180 (12 - 2)/12 = 150 deg
X = 360 - (150 + 150) = 60
correct although a faster way is to look at that space where the coins meet as an equilateral triangle with three sides of size 12. so the angle between the coins is then 60 degrees (equilateral triangles have equal angles of size 60deg)

Clown. I came late to the thread so anything I post as proof would seem like "copy copy." It didn't take me a minute to see the answer though, doesn't require calculations to get the answer.

Exterior angle of a regular polygon = 360 deg/ n; where n=number of sides
for one coin, the exterior angle = 360/12=30deg
the included angle between the two coins = 2 x each exterior angle =2x30=60deg.
