Amuneke hails Eaglets

Amuneke led the Golden Eaglets to conquer the World in Chile and the NFF confirmed yesterday that the former Super Eagles player would assist coach Manu Garba at the U-20 (Flying Eagles) while still retaining his position as the chief coach of the Golden Eaglets.

President of the NFF, Pinnick Amaju said that Manu Garba and Amuneke have a relationship that would be beneficial to Nigerian football.

‘’Amuneke will assist Garba in the U-20 and still retain his position as the gaffer of the U-17. We want to pay more attention to these teams because they are the future of our senior national team,’ he said.

It will be a nice idea to have Coaches like Sunday Oliseh, Samson Siasia, Manu Garba, Emmanuel Amunike, paddle the Ship of our football.

NFF stops Golden Eaglets’ foreign move
By: EVEREST ONYEWUCHI

…Pinnick says they’re national assets

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will not approve the request for International Transfer Certificate (ITC) for any member of the victorious Golden Eaglets.

This is authoritative, coming from the NFF president, Amaju Pinnick, who yesterday in Lagos, described the players as “a national asset”.

Pinnick said that contrary to some recent stories that a foreign agent had signed some members of the team on its stable, no such transfer had been approved.

“Quote me, the players are going no where; they are our national asset.

We are the custodians of football in Nigeria, we will regulate and determine where they go and how they develop to ensure that they and their parents ultimately benefit from their career,” Pinnick vowed.
nationalmirroronline.net/new/nff-stops-golden-eaglets-foreign-move/

Pinnick should allow the Stellar Group offer. These men have a reputation of giving their players long careers. These guys are in it for the long run and they actually want their players to do well.

Unlike Agents who would ship their players to rubbish clubs, Stellar will get the very best clubs that would suit the players.

I hope the NFF Bosses allow the deal to go through. The players will still be our asset and asset to Stellar group.

Yeah, interestingly both coaches seem to have contrasting styles of play. While Coach Manu is d ticky-tacker kind of coach with plenty of ball possession; Coach Amuneke believes in counter attacks & direct play without much ball possession.

If u study the 2013 Eaglets well u will discover they played a blend of both. The 2015 Flying Eagles were not as pacey and as direct as they were at 2013 U17. There were several cases where they passed the ball too many times even in danger areas and got punished on some of such occasions.

Let's see how these 2 coaches combine again with the 2017 U20. That team would be a force to be reckoned with.

I don't think their philosophies are much different, i just think their players were different. The 2013 set had more technically gifted individuals especially in the midfield while the set were just as deadly if not more deadly in front of a goal. They both scored alot of goals out of counter attack.

Their philosophies are similar, just like Guardiola and Enrique. There is a slight contrast in their choices of players. Guardiola prefers players keeping things simple and relying mostly on their passes to unlock the game.

While Enrique prefers technically gifted with the ball and not just with passes. That is why you see slight difference in the play of Busquets. Now we are seeing Busquets holding the ball and showing his dribbling ability.

Emmanuel Amuneke Turns Down Golden Eaglets, Flying Eagles Jobs

Former Barcelona winger Emmanuel Amuneke has rejected an offer from NFF President Amaju Pinnick to continue coaching the Golden Eaglets and work as an assistant to Manu Garba in the Flying Eagles.

Amuneke has stressed that Pinnick didn’t thrash out terms with him before he made an announcement on his reappointment last week.

“No doubt coaching the national team is something I consider a huge privilege and when you even get to win honors with the national team, I think there are very few experiences that can beat that, ” said Amuneke to footballive.ng.

“However, I don’t subscribe to certain situations and certainly I don’t think announcing the appointment of a coach on air without a meeting with the party involved or a written contract is not how I’ll choose to work.”

Emmanuel Amuneke was in the dugout when the Golden Eaglets won the Fifa Under 17 World Cup last month.

Nigeria Under 17 international Victor Osimhen is being linked with a move to Serie A side Inter Milan, according to reports in the Italian press.

Italian sports dailyLa Gazzetta dello Sport says Inter Milan suits have made contact with the entourage of the player regarding a contract.

But the stumbling block the Nerazzurri are expected to face in signing the striker is that he is not in the possession of an EU passport, meaning the earliest date he can be acquired is January 2017.

The Ultimate Strikers poster boy has drawn interest from Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool after putting himself in the shop window at the 2015 Fifa Under 17 World Cup.

Osimhen has played two games for the Dream Team at the ongoing Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, including the semi - final tie against Senegal on Wednesday evening.

Kenny Jackett Happy Wolves Talent Enobakhare Has Settled Down

Wolverhampton Wanderers coach Kenny Jackett is delighted that Bright Enobakhare , 17, no longer has issues with the club.

The striker was disciplined by Wolves after extending a compassionate leave granted to him by two weeks but returned to training last month and featured against Derby County U21s few days later.

“It’s good to see talent there and a lot of ability, ” Jackett said to Wolves official website.

“It was good to see Bright (Enobakhare) settled down again, back in to the club and in his own age group looking a very good player against MK Dons.”

The Nigerian trio at Wolves - Carl Ikeme, Dominic Iorfa and Bright Enobakhare - all progressed through the youth ranks before they were handed their first team debuts.

Samuel Eyitayo Usman Praises Hapoel Nazareth Illit For Welcoming Him With Open Arms

Former AACC FC striker , Samuel Eyitayo Usman , has expressed his delight at the manner in which he has been treated by Hapoel Nazareth Illit since he penned a deal with the Israeli Liga Leumit side last month.

Aged 18, Usman initially arrived in Israel three months ago and tried his luck at Maccabi Tel Aviv, Hapoel Acre, Hapoel Rishon LeZion and Maccabi Ironi Kiryat Ata but those teams passed up the opportunity to acquire him due to work permit issues.

“I signed for just a season for the youth team so next season I am moving to the senior side. I haven’t been informed when I am going to make my debut for the senior side but the President wants that, ” Samuel Usman said to allnigeriasoccer.com.

“I am happy here in this club, they have treated me with care and given me all that I need. I am coping with the language barrier, the captain interprets anything the coach is saying.

“I am targeting to win the league with the club and to be the highest goalscorer of the league, I want the team to be promoted to the Premier League.”

Samuel Eyitayo Usman thinks he is a player with great scoring abilities and has cited Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as his role models.

For the youth team of Hapoel Nazareth Illit, the teenager has been handed the number 24 kit for the remainder of this season.

Siasia: Unpaid Bonuses Won’t Stop U-23 Eagles From AFCON Title

By James Agberebi:
Nigeria U-23 coach Samson Siasia has stated that after qualifying for next year's Olympics, their next target is to win the CAF U-23 Cup of Nations.

The U-23 Eagles will face Algeria in Saturday's final inside the Leopald Sedar Senghor Stadium, Dakar.

This will be the second time both teams will be meeting after their first clash ended goalless.
Speaking ahead of the final, Siasia said his team know what to expect against Algeria following their first meeting.

"We're very happy to be in the final. It has been a long journey with some ups and downs but it feels good to be in the final," Siasia told CAF's official website.

"We know our opponents (Algeria) very well after playing them (at the group phase) and seeing their matches.

"The objective was to qualify for the Olympics which we achieved against Senegal. Now, we've set another objective, which is to win because we want to win the tournament for our people back home in Nigeria."

It has emerged that the players have not been paid their bonuses but Siasia insists they will not be distracted.

"The players worked hard to get to Rio de Janeiro because they want to make the country proud.

It doesn't matter whether they have received match bonuses or not, what is important is to play and win for Nigeria," Siasia said.

He also hinted that Victor Osimhen should feature in the final against Algeria.

"Victor Osimhen had a good outing against Senegal which is giving me problems ahead of the final. I think he will play but I cannot confirm if he will start."

Algeria Coach: We’ll Take Our Chances In U-23 AFCON Final

By James Agberebi:
Algeria U-23 coach Pierre-Andre Schurman has said that they will approach the final of the U-23 Cup of Nations against Nigeria differently.

Schurman told CAF official website that the final will be a different ball game entirely.

"The final will never be the same (like the meeting at the group phase)," he said. "It is a different game and we will have a different philosophy because it is an important game for the two coaches.

"We will focus on our strategy. Every coach would like to go offensive but the basic is defence.
When you are building a house, you need a strong foundation to support it.

"The differences will be the goals scored and once you have an opportunity, you have to score."
He stated that their number one objective was to qualify for the Olympics after a 35-year wait.
"Our mission was to qualify for the Olympic Games and it is done. I congratulate my players and staff on that.

"Our qualification is historic in the sense that it has been 35 years since Algeria last qualified for the Olympic Games. It was worth it and for a coach from a country like Switzerland, it is quiet weird," Schurman said.

Ex-Flying Eagles Star Tips U-23 Eagles For AFCON Title

By Adeboye Amosu:
Ex-Flying Eagles midfielder, Olufemi Oladapo, has tipped the U-23 Eagles to beat Algeria in Saturday's final at the Africa U-23 Nations Cup in Senegal, reports Comple tesportsnigeria.com.

Samson Siasia's charges will take on the North Africans at the Leopold Sedar Senghor Stadium to determine the winners of the second edition of the competition.

It will be second time the two teams will be meeting in the competition after they played a goalless draw in the group stage.

Oladapo however believes the U-23 Eagles will beat the Algerians this time around.

"I believe they (U-23 Eagles) have what it takes to beat the Algerians," he told Comple tesportsnigeria.com.

"The first game between both sides was a tight affair, but this time around I think they will prevail over them.

Umar hits debut goal for Roma

Sadiq Umar scored his first goal in Serie A for AS Roma in their 2-0 win over Genoa on Sunday.

The 18-year-old was thrown into the fray as an 82nd minute substitute in place of Egyptian winger Mohammed Salah by club trainer Rudi Garcia.

Umar took his chance as he netted in the 89th minute in predatory fashion to seal maximum points for the Giallorossi.

He crept in behind the Genoa defence, outsmarting five players in the process as he headed past Mattia Peron following a great cross from William Vainqueur.

Umar, currently on loan from Serie B (second division) club Spezia, had only played twice previously for Roma in Serie A -- racking up just 30 minutes of action under his belt.

18-year-old Sadiq Umar scored his first ever goal for Roma just seven minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute against Genoa.

Here’s 11 facts you need to know about the young striker…

1. Sadiq was born in Kaduna, the the state capital of Kaduna State in north-western Nigeria.

2. Despite being only 18 years old, Sadiq is 6 foot, four inches tall (1.92m).

3. The youngster grew up playing on the streets of Kaduna before joining the Future of Africa Academy and the Football College Abuja, where he was spotted by AC Spezia.

4. He got his love of football from his father. “I started playing football when I was very little on the streets of Kaduna,” he revealed in an interview in February. “My interest in the game increased as I grew up. My father Umar Abubakar, known as ‘Mega’ ,was a footballer. He was a striker for Ranchers Bees back then. He was a major influence in making me choose football as a career.”

5. The Nigerian was an instant hit during his first season at AC Spezia – scoring 14 goals in his first 18 Primavera outings.

6. Swapping Nigeria for Italy wasn’t easy, he admits. “It was tough because it was my first time in Europe,” he says of the move. “It wasn't easy as I had to adapt to a lot of things that I wasn't used to, both in terms of the playing part and the life in general, but gradually I started getting used to it and things improved as time went by. It wasn't easy but I really thank God that I can now say I’ve settled in nicely.”

7. He joined Roma on loan during the summer and made his Serie A debut for the first team on 21 November 2015 against Bologna, replacing Juan Iturbe after 88 minutes in the 2-2 away draw.

8. At Roma, he’s already scored 14 Primavera goals this season – eight in the league, four in the UEFA Youth League and two in Coppa Italia.

9. He believes he’s become a better player since moving to Italy. “I can say that my game has improved both physically and technically. I can say I'm more aware of my role now as a striker more than ever and you are aware that Italian football is very tactical. Defensively they are tight which makes it difficult for any striker. I'm very grateful to Almighty Allah for giving me the opportunity to start my career in Italy.”

10. His hero growing up was Nigeria international Nwankwo Kanu – a footballer some pundits in Africa have compared his player style to. “I feel honoured to be compared to such a legend and a great African football ambassador who also at one time in his career played in Italy," Sadiq told Supersport before joining Roma. “I hope and pray to work hard and achieve as much as he did. I loved watching him play when I was a kid and every day I work hard on my game to be the best. He is my role model. I’ll work hard and make sure I achieve my goals of being the best. With God, everything is possible.”

11. He dreams of representing his country at senior level one day in the future. “Every serious footballer will always have the ambition of representing his country and I’m no exception. I will keep working hard on my game and keep improving.”

Wow, I am astonished. This is one young lad with genuine talent. I will keep my eyes out for him. I will try and get his clips because I feel Kanu is the best player to play for the Super Eagles and I wondered if we would get someone who played like him.

I hope Sadiq Umar is similar to Papilo. Nice report.

He is under a very good coach. Rudi Garcia is the coach behind the development of Eden Harzard and Gervinho. The man is good in developing young talents to top starts.

Sadiq Umar is in a very good hand. Wish the young star the best.

Exclusive : Victor Osimhen Family Disowns 36 Lion CEO Gafar, As Agents Demand 3 Million Euros From Wolfsburg

Agents representing Victor Osimhen and Ultimate Strikers Lagos are demanding the sum of three million euros from Wolfsburg before rubber - stamping his move to the Bundesliga club when the striker attains the age of majority.

The European clubs that have launched a transfer bid for the Nigeria Under 17 international are not prepared to pay more than €1.5 million for the frontman, while the lowest bid received so far is in the region of €1.1 million.

But Ultimate Strikers are holding out for €3 million due to interest from a major club in Saudi Arabia, who intend to acquire Osimhen for that amount, then loan him out to a European team.

Victor Osimhen’s dad is presently recovering from an undisclosed ailment, so Pa Osimhen’selder brother, Michael Osimhen, was contacted to provide an update on the transfer situation of the teenager.

“Gafar (36 Lion CEO) is not Victor’s legal guardian, Victor can’t have a legal guardian when his father is still alive ,” Michael Osimhen tolda llnigeriasoccer.com.

“Gafar is not a Nigerian, how can he be his guardian, he is telling lies. We don’t want Victor to play in Germany. They said they will be back this week and we will continue discussions. Gafar took them to Germany, no other person.”

Michael Osimhen added : “They went to Germany without the father, they are on their own. Victor is not signing any contract because they traveled without his knowledge.

“The father said he will report Wolfsburg and the agents to Fifa if they sign any contract. It was only on Thursday we found out that they went to Germany.”

It is confirmed that 36 Lion CEO Liameed Olawale Gafar acquired ten percent of Victor Osimhen’s economic rights from Ultimate Strikers after paying six million Naira and he is hoping to recoup his investment by at least four folds when the player is sold.

The Nigeria Football Federation chiefs are closely monitoring developments in Germany as they don’t want any of the Golden Eaglets players to be exploited by unscrupulous agents.

Exclusive : 36 Lion CEO Gafar Sends Thugs To Beat Up Victor Osimhen Father Over Transfer To Wolfsburg

Victor Osimhen’s biological father, Patrick Osimhen, has commented on reports that suggested that36 Lion CEO Liameed Olawale Gafar is the legal guardian of the Nigeria Under 17 international and his adviser.

Pa Osimhen has revealed that he has nothing to do with Gafar and is only an impostor but acknowledged that Shira Yussuf and his partner Ariyo Igbayilola as well as Ultimate Strikers coach Chinedu Ogbenna have been authorized to represent the Golden Eaglets star.

The relationship between Victor Osimhen’s father andLiameed Olawale Gafar is far from cordial after the 36 Lion supremo sent thugs to beat up the old man after they disagreed over the striker’stransfer to Wolfsburg.

It is confirmed that Patrick Osimhen was severely beaten up so much so that he ended up with a broken arm before he was rushed to the hospital and admitted.

“Gafar, I don’t care to see him and I don’t want to see him. I only know Ariyo, Shira and Chinedu, I don’t know who Gafar is,” Patrick Osimhen told allnigeriasoccer.com.

Liameed Olawale Gafar, the main protagonist in the dispute, is not a citizen of Nigeria and hails from Porto-Novo in the Republic of Benin.

He has acquired ten percent of the economic rights of Victor Osimhen for six million Naira ( approximately $24,000 ) which is tantamount to third - party ownership that has been banned by football regulatory authority, Fifa.

The 36 Lion CEO is being backed by NFF President Amaju Pinnick and Vice President of the NFF, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi.
