The Taraba Coalition of Youth Leaders has described Saturday’s election tribunal judgment nullifying the election of Governor Dirus Ishaku as provocative.

The group also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to take steps to avert a full-blown crisis in the state.

This was contained in a statement signed by the coordinators of the group, Mijinyawa Usman and Daniel Maikasuwa, in Abuja on Sunday.

According to them, one of the cardinal roles of any true leader is the security of his people.

This, they further argued, “makes it incumbent on any true leader not to sacrifice the life and property of his people for anything material or for power considerations.”

The statement partly read, “It is our belief that President Muhammadu Buhari is such a leader considering his antecedents. Although our dear President is a loyal party man, we don’t see him as a cut-throat politician bent on imposing anyone on a people.

“That is why we, the undersigned, are making this passionate appeal to His Excellency, the Commander- in-Chief. First, we wish to appeal to His Excellency to take more than a passing interest in the outcome of the tribunal judgment on the state governorship imbroglio.

“Your Excellency must have been properly briefed by now and would have noticed that this judgment, apart from being a travesty of justice, is an insult on the President’s sense of propriety and justice.”

They alleged that “even a child on the street knows” that Governor Darius Ishaku was unfairly treated.

They argued that what transpired at the tribunal was a “serial robbery” of an uncommon kind.

“Who can forget that just recently in Benue State, Governor Samuel Ortom, who confessed he didn’t go through a primary is still now a governor. Is it because he belongs to the APC or what?” the group queried.

Members of the group also noted that since the judgment on Saturday, ancient fears and animosity had suddenly been revived in Taraba.

However, a group of supporters of the All Progressives Congress candidate, Jummai Al-Hassan, while suing for peace, urged the people of the state to resist the temptation of being used by unscrupulous politicians to disrupt public peace.

The spokesperson for the group of supporters, Ibrahim Suleiman, said, “This is the time to work together to rebuild Taraba and not for people to threaten the peace.”

Meaning PDP are just being Emotional and not Reasonable about this!

The fact is that the law requires the the Primaries hold in Taraba State capital. But PDP moved theirs to Abuja (against the laws of the land) in order to sell it to the highest bidder.

Even if you order a re-run, PDP will not participate because their candidate was illegally selected and the time for Primaries (selection of candidates) is long gone. Also for holding the Primary in Abuja, all the aspirants in PDP are automatically disqualified.

No matter how you mix this, PDP are losers on this one. It is Mama Taraba all the way. No one can stop a destiny whose time has come.

The simple question is; was the electoral law violated?

That's just a stinky pile of sentiments without substance up there.

The Difference Which Settled The Matter:

In the Case of Hajia Aisha Jumai Alhassan, she was able to prove her case with relevant documents and testimonies from the INEC official that there that the purported primary election that threw up Darius Ishaku was held in total breach of the constitution and electoral act:

See excerpt of the verdict: In the instant case, the tribunal said that there was overwhelming evidence that PDP in Taraba State did not do any primary election that could have led to emergence of anybody as a sponsored candidate.

The tribunal recalled the evidence of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on subpoena during the hearing of the petition when the Commission claimed that it has no record of any primary election by PDP in Taraba State whereas Section 85 of the Electoral Act made it mandatory that INEC must be given 21 days notice of a convention or a primary where candidates are to be nominated for election.

However in the case of PDP Trazon, he was not able to prove his case beyond doubt that the primary election that brought up the APC Ortom was not held in compliance with the electoral act (as amended)

Hear the Judge "She went further to point out that the petitioner failed to provide valid evidences to show that the APC did not hold its primaries as required by law.

According to her, the petitioners witness (one) made mockery of the Tribunal by presenting to it a report of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on the APC primaries which was not written on an INEC letter headed paper nor signed by the relevant persons"

So what's all these noises about "double standards" in the two cases??

[quote author=TonyeBarcanista post=39807853]It is very clear that the Benue state tribunal was BIAS in its ruling.

1. There was NO Governorship primary of the APC that was held on or before December 11, 2014. All they had was an arrangement inside the parlour of George Akume which other candidates REJECTED. See the Nation's report...
"Chief Ortom emerged after other governorship aspirants stepped down for him at the end of a close door meeting brokered by the senate minority leader, Senator George Akume, in Makurdi."
www.thenationonlineng.net/benue-apc-settles-ortom-governorship-candidate/

2. In fact, other FIVE aspirants rejected the arrangement.http://www.leadership.ng/news/394871/benue-apc-primaries-5-guber-aspirants-reject-ortom

3. No delegate was present nor participated in the sham as required by section 78(b)(I) of the Electoral Act. For the record...

Section 78 (b) (1)(2) of the Electoral Act states: In the case of nomination to the position of Governorship candidate, a political party shall where they intend to sponsor candidates:

(i) hold special congress in each of the Local Government Areas of the States with delegates voting for each of the aspirants at the congress to be held in designated centres on specified dates.

(ii) the aspirant with the highest number of vote at the end of the voting shall be declared the winner of the primaries of the party and aspirant’s name shall be forwarded to the commission as the candidate of the party, for the particular state.

4. No INEC official monitored the primary election/f®audulent arrangement by APC. This contravenes section 85 of the Constitution

This issue was RAISED by PDP candidate but INEC working with APC was silent on it.

6. The tribunal Judge failed to look at the merit of the argument but dwelt on technicalities. It ask the PDP to prove that there was NO primary election. But in the Taraba case no such was demanded.

7. Both cases are of similar magnetude. While INEC was quick to point out that they never monitored any Taraba PDP primary election, they kept quiet in the case of Benue.

We shall not relent in our drive to reclaim our stolen mandate in Benue and Taraba states. The Judiciary terrorism by APC, Buhari and corrupt judges shall be resisted. This is pure Judicial Terrorism perpetrated by the unholy group called APC.

Is it that you do not understand a simple matter here or you are just crafted for a wrong path? The Bible already has a complete copy of the Book of Lamentations. These extra Chapters of Lamentation you are ignorantly adding is totally uncalled for.

As for Division, we already know those miscreants calling for division, and they have nothing to do with APC.

Go and look for proof; cold, hard, admissible facts that the Benue primaries did not hold and present as evidence to the tribunal.

Anything else is just a celebration of your lawyers legal incompetence and APC's growth from strength to strength.

By the provisions of Section 140 of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended), where an Election Tribunal or Court determines that a candidate who obtained the highest votes was not qualified to contest the election, it shall not declare the candidate with the second highest votes as elected, but it shall order for a fresh election.

On the other hand, where the Tribunal or Court determines that the candidate who was returned as elected did not score majority of valid votes at the election, it shall declare the candidate with the highest valid votes as elected.

Why all this miscarriages of justice since May 29th

Firefire, are you aware that in a case of Re-Run, PDP will not participate? Their candidate is invalid and the time of Primaries is long past.

Let the rule as stated in the electoral act be use as a guide and not any 'penetration strategy', either PDP participate or not is another contentious issue all together.

The people of Taraba and others across the country have the choice to choose their leaders and not any imposition by any party or elements.
