How is this a reprieve? The BVN is an ongoing exercise and the CBN has said that time and again. Reading the headline made me think they had lifted the restriction on accounts for a while longer - very misleading title.

First bank is making things difficult, people having account in different bank with different name are not allow
to link their account, CBN should do the needfull to allow people get access to there cash.

That is why i love gtbank they are so innovative you can link your BVN on ATM no bank have that application.

“The BVN is neither a payment instrument nor an account number and therefore cannot be used to access any account by unauthorised users,” Mu’azu said.

Very key point... cool
Re: CBN Gives Customers BVN Reprieve by xreal: 9:57am On Nov 11, 2015
If its not a 'Payment Instrument', why is it affecting account holders' Debit cards? Making them unable to make withdrawals.

This(BVN) is good though but we were given a wrong orientation/awareness on it.

Now, I understand its a kind of Identity Number.

If non bank account holders can enroll, then BVN might be done at birth or a few days after birth.
BVN enrolment should then be extended to Religios houses, Delivery/Birth Homes, Hospitals, even Midwives should be trained on enrolling a baby.

GOD bless Nigeria

Re: CBN Gives Customers BVN Reprieve by panpan(m): 10:35am On Nov 11, 2015
Mu’azu said an individual could enroll for a BVN without necessarily having a bank account.

Which bank would register a BVN for an individual without an account in that bank? The bank would probably compel the person to open an account at the same time.

I agree. Very poor headline

As before, all accounts with no BVN remain locked for transactions until registration is done. Nothing has changed from that
