Ways An Engine Shorts Oil? by diportivo: 7:00am On Nov 20, 2015
I drive a 2004 nissan xterra v6 engine

I drained the oil and changed the filter like 7weeks ago

Oil was replace with 10w40 oil grade

All was well until 2 saturdays ago when i had to travel to ibadan from lagos via ijebu-ode from ikorodu

I was in a hurry and so my foot was heavy on the pedal

Checked oil the following day and it wasnt guaging.it was extremely low...no visible leaks{cos i went under d car to inspect},no blue smoke(cos i looked in d rearview mirror often during the journey) and no blue smoke in d mornin.only steam

Now,here is the thing.tho i cant see any blue smoke,i am of the opinion that it is smoking.my kazeem insists it isnt smoking, but that its just shorting oil....this leaves me confused

Apart from smoking and visible leaks, how else does an engine shorts oil?

It might not be smoking, but just shorting oil.

BTW what oil brand did you use?

Some Natural petroleum based oil motor oils will break down at high temperatures. At this high temperature
oxidation can occur which will develop deposits and
varnish. These also can cause sludge. Synthetic oil
does not have these problems.

I will advice you change to a synthetic oil .
call autologic @ 08061166316 for supply of Lubex synthetic oil

This is bad.

I remember the oil brand and grade that went into my engine as far back as 2013. The only reason you would NOT know what lubricants were used in your own automobile is simple.

A distinct lack of interest, which is one of the reasons local Kazeems feast on your finances and ignorance. Change your attitude, and you'll see a marked change.

Good luck in your resolution.

One of my Mercedes trucks is currently doing so. No smoking and oil leaks but it shorts oil. I have been using Total Oil since the first day. What could be wrong?
