Guys this bride prize of a thing is relative, even when they bring a list of N1million its the negotiation skills of your most senior uncle that ll count and im speaking from experience. When I wanted to wed my Akwa Ibom sweetheart, the list they brought was even worse than the one of Nsukka but when my senior uncles finished the negotiation process they eliminated a lot of things on the list and saved me close to N300k. My advise to the OP is to go and meet the lady's people with very experienced elderly ones from his side cause they sure know how to deal with themselves. During negotiation the bridegroom will not even utter a single word. Funny enough, the bulk of what they collected from me was spent back on my wife in form of gifts

I concur. Because with the way things are going now, most of their girls will have to marry themselves. Most of the igbo guys i know in my area here in Delta are now getting married to the locals down here, becos to them, they would rather invest such money in their business than spending it on some long throat family accross the bridge.

Whenever I see topics like this,I really get angry cos all I see is greed and pure extortion all in the name of marriage and the annoying part is that these ladies are not speaking out against it yet they are the ones suffering from being long over due for marriage.

Ladies, that the man didn't pay millions of naira doesn't mean he won't treat you right. Don't be a tool to financial bondage of your would be husband. Marriage in Nsukka is highly negotiable, you can marry Nsukka girl with any amount ok so dont blackmail us and pls dont discourage those that wish to marry from Nsukka . I have sisters who married with my parents blessings at a cost less than 100k and some yet to marry,so if you want an elaborate wedding or marriage celebration that one na your cup of tea.
