My friend, nothing you say can change the fact that hundreds of thousands of lives have been needlessly lost to the massive corruption under GEJ through arm purchase scams, and he with his NSA Dasuki MUST defend the heavy allegations against them or bear the full consequences of directly or indirectly sponsoring terror and Boko Haram like the former NSA, Late Azazi alleged before he was assassinated.

E don set.

[s]STFU! Wen u go on probing the past administration without doing anything in ur administration. Are we not still going backward. The last time I checked, everyone is ready to be probed if invited. So wat is all the fume for as if, the people are hiding. Take them to court and let them defend demselves and u go ahead with working and developing the country while the institutions for corrupt practices do their job. But since ur kunu drinking dullard came on board. Tell me one thing he has done apart from chasing a wild goose. Since the probe started. Who av they indicted, how much av they recovered and who did they recover it from? Kwarraption fight my ass. Nigeria has earned over 2trillion since he came on board, rather he has borrowed more than 2b dollars since he came on board, no projects continued or started. Yet he can't even pay ordinary salary. So who is the real THIEF here. God will repay u and ur president in 10folds. [/s]

So how much is Buhari actually looking for now on this one?

$2.2b 'looted' from arms deals or,

$1b arms loan?

Who is helping Buhari with his various calculations?

He doesn't seem to have got any one right since.

They claimed $2.2b was 'stolen' as usual.

Jonathan wonders where such money would come from.

In order to prove their hypothesis, they suddenly remember a $1b loan.

Unfortunately again, it's 'looking like' the loan was not actually drawn-down.

So we are back to 'square-one'. They want to invite people again to come and explain to them what they can easily get from their own records. That is the money they already told us has been stolen. The money they already published in their media outlets that is stolen.

That's what they want to invite people to come and explain again.

Maybe that's why they don't want to charge Dasuki to court so we can have the opportunity to know more.

It's high time Buhari's fixation on imaginary 'zillions' missing was stopped. He thought he would meet the whole world in the treasury, but was surprised that he has probably been on concentrated hallucinogen.

But instead of him to calmly face the reality, he reasoned that the monies must have been 'stolen', hence the various 'probes' with humongous figures bandied around.

And he has been on a wild-goose-chase ever since.

By 'dishing' out these extraordinarily large figures, they hope to keep the minds of their worshippers away form the current economic realities but unfortunately the economy is dangerously hanging in the balance. And when the hypnosis wears off, it's not going to be palatable.

Take them to court. So that we can have the benefit of knowing the 'hundreds of thousands of lives' lost and who killed them.

'Nothing you say' here can substitute a court trial.

No, you look well. (That's if you know what a 'subject of an article' means.)

The subject of the propaganda is the theatrics around $1b arms loan. It went on to say some other people (former government officials) will be invited for questioning. Maybe you need your glasses upgraded. It's probably weak.

And the subject of your bitter response is the 'hundreds of thousands of lives' lost, which must be accounted for.

Buhari himself does not yet know the total amount allegedly stolen or misappropriated by the last administration, the ministries and parastatals are many, NNPC, Defense, Pensions, customs, etc; and most of them did not audit their accounts for many years.

how the defense budgets had been spent is still a mystery to this new government, the records don't just add up. The government is trying to ascertain which loans they are liable for.

Rubbish.

Reports from the Presidency stated that documents detailing the unaccounted expenditure of over $2 billion between 2007 and 2014 on arms have been reviewed by the arms purchases probe panel as contained in its interim report.

Furthermore, Dasuki himself has admitted receiving acknowledgement of delivery letters of untraceable purchased arms from GEJ's service chiefs. Hence those funds were released and assumed to have been spent. Monies that have now been denied to have been approved by the same GEJ.

The $1 billion you refer to was applied for at the tail end of the last administration and is now also being investigated by the panel. You're only grasping at straws now that the world is about to be reminded of GEJ's incompetence, corruption, and possible culpability in the massacre of thousands of his own citizens.

If you're confused, seek clarification and avoid peddling ignorance in public.

Arms Deals: Fresh Controversy Over $1b Loan Approved For Jonathan

-Ex-president returns home, loyalists regroup to defend tenure

-Dasuki writes EFCC, asks for more time

More questions may be awaiting former President Goodluck Jonathan on arms deals during his tenure after his weekend denial in Washington DC that he never incurred a bill of $2 billion on arms procurement. This includes the whereabouts of the over $1billion loan approved for him by the 7th National Assembly for arms purchase to fight the Boko Haram insurgency.

It was unclear last night whether the loan was accessed by the administration before the expiration of its tenure on May 29.

His loyalists claimed yesterday that the money was not made available before he left office.

There were suggestions that the Special Investigative Panel on arms procurement may be asked to establish the truth about the loan.

More military officers, ex-ministers and arms contractors may be invited for clarifications, it was gathered.

Jonathan returned to Abuja from the USA on Friday with his ex-members said to be regrouping to defend arms deals during his presidency and other allegations against the administration.

Jonathan had on July 16, 2014, written to the 7th National Assembly for the approval of a $1 billion loan for the fight against Boko Haram.

The ex- President said he needed the cash to upgrade military equipment and for training as well as logistics for the Armed Forces.

Jonathan made the request in a letter entitled: “Tackling ongoing security challenges: The need for urgent action.”

On September 25, 2014, the Senate approved the loan following the submission of the report of the Senate Joint Committee on Finance and that of Local and Foreign Debt by the Chairman, Senator Ahmed Makarfi.

A reliable source, who spoke in confidence, said: “In spite of the submission of Interim Report, the ongoing probe of the arms deal is continuing. One of the areas being looked into is what became of the $1billion loan approved for Jonathan by the 7th Senate.

“Actually, the loan was approved going by the records made available to the probe panel. So, if the panel is talking of $2billion, it must have been based on records in its care.

“This development may lead to the invitation of some ex-ministers to clarify the status of the loan and whether or not it was diverted to other use.”

But a former Minister said: “Initially, the vote was about $900m but the leadership of the 7th Senate advised the Executive to ask for $1billion to accommodate unexpected financial challenges in fighting Boko Haram.

“The Ministry of Finance ought to write letters to those advancing the loan and those companies supplying the arms on how the government will remit the funds.

“We however did not get the $1billion loan because the former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, did not sign necessary papers as a result of the inability of her office to receive the required votes and proceedings from the National Assembly.”

Ex-President Jonathan returned to Abuja on Friday with his erstwhile cabinet members regrouping on how to defend their tenure.

A highly-placed source said: “We have resolved to respond to any issue raised by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari on facts and figures.

“Ex-President Jonathan has started it in the US, we will no longer keep quiet because the stigmatization is increasingly becoming unbearable.

“We will not confront Buhari government but we will be replying on points of records.”

Embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, was said to have written to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for more time to appear for grilling over the arms deals.

The letter was submitted to EFCC on Friday by Dasuki’s counsel.

A source in EFCC said: “We have received Dasuki’s letter, we will get back to him accordingly.

“If after Monday, he continues to evade appearance before this commission, we will have no choice than to obtain a warrant of arrest from a court to pick him.

“We have tried our best to be civil and handle the case in line with international best practices.”

How does reposting the article change the confusion you were ravaged with regarding the new contention over the $1billion? Or does it change the fact that GEJ has roped himself into a fix with his denial despite Dasuki's assertion that acknowledgement letters were received for funds he claims were unapproved.

Some of us are now vindicated. We warned that everything GEJ and his associates were doing, including the $1 billion 'midnight' loan, would be exposed as fraudulent after the PDP is defeated. The deceit, lack of transparency and scamming nature of the GEJ government is just puke-inducing. Now they are even saying it is unclear whether the $1 billion was released of not. Anyway, those of us who saw this coming and even predicted it are enjoying the 'show' currently. cool cool

https://www.nairaland.com/1829483/gbajabiamila-rejects-jonathans-1billion-loan/2

Gbawe:

My dear sister, is this not why some continue to insist that GEJ is literally getting away with murder because Nigeria has never been this divided along ethnic and religious lines. If not for how terribly divided Nigerians are today, along sectional lines, should every single Nigerian not angrily condemn this insanity whereby the GEJ Government has frittered 3 trillion ($18 billion) allocated for defence and security over 3 years only to be insensitively asking for another $1 billion when there is absolutely nothing to show for the massive amount devoted to fighting insecurity under Jonathan? This would spark a revolution in almost any other nation on earth !!! I.e $18 billion devoted to fighting terrorism and insecurity is looted callously by treasonous elements, while the nation becomes far more insecure and significantly greater number of Nigerians are being maimed and killed by terrorist, yet the Government has the nerve to ask for a $1billion loan !!!

All this at a time we are supposed to have healthy 'rainy day' savings facilitated by how oil price per barrel has been significantly higher than budgeting benchmark for the entire time GEJ has been President!!!! Benchmark hovers around $75.00 per barrel yet oil has been above $100 for virtually most of the Presidency of GEJ. Give or take, Nigeria is gaining at least $20 per barrel above benchmark. Given the volume of oil Nigeria sells daily, one does not need to be a rocket scientist to know the sort of savings Nigeria should have put away which means it is insanity for GEJ to now be asking approval to borrow a mere $1 billion we will likely be paying interest on when we this sort of amount should be a small part of what Nigeria has put away in savings for emergency spending !!! This is why I have no doubt $20 billion indeed 'disappeared' as Sanusi revealed.

I am in no doubt that GEJ is running Nigeria like a Ponzi scheme and that Nigeria is indeed broke with brazen deception being the only thing Okonjo-Iweala et al are using to fool the world that the situation is otherwise. The brazen looting GEJ is supervising truly marks him out as inhumanly corrupt. Jonathan , if Nigeria was not so divided currently, should head the queue of leaders to be impeached immediately so that, without any delay, our nation can be rescued from the huge crash she is heading toward at 200 miles per hour!!!! I personally cannot believe, given all we know, that GEJ has the nerve to ask for this loan and I cannot understand why lawmakers should even be considering the request when they should be probing far, far bigger past allocation which appears to now have been embezzled brazenly !!!! How much is the amount Nyako was alleged to have mismanaged, to warrant his 'gra gra' impeachment, in comparison to what was looted n fuel subsidy scam plus the $18 billion pumped into security and defence under GEJ? Is the callous looting of funds meant to keep Nigerians safe and secure not far more grievous and deserving of punishment than anything else? Crazy nation.

Good insight there.

Asking questions from those who have been given leadership responsibility is a very important tenet of democracy.

So also is giving them the chance of responding to the questions. After the response, people are normally taken to court for diligent prosecution if the answers are not satisfactory.

At the court, the accused are given further opportunity to defend themselves, and the public is afforded the benefit of hearing what they have to say.

If the judges are satisfied with the defense the accused are discharged and acquitted, if not, they are convicted.

The process is very simple and not so complicated.

Nigerians are waiting for the outcomes of the 'various committees' works. We are also waiting for proper judicial processes to commence.

And yes, the national assembly has disappointingly not lived up to its expectations in the arms expenditure probe.

What we have seen so far, however, is the workings of the 'various committees' thrown to the media in the most vicious manner, akin to prosecution and passing a conviction, which the 'various committees' lack the power to do.

Then when the 'various committees' have 'completed' their public 'prosecution and conviction', a SECRET trial would be proposed in the court. (A SECRET trial of what the 'various committees' have publicly investigated?)

How do you react to that?

It's in Buhari administration's interest not to make budgetary figures' comparison alone as the basis of its probes. That would be taking their assumptions too far.

While it's the first place to start the questions, it's just a guide and may not represent the final figure spent. As you may know, budgetary provisions are just estimates. They don't represent the actual amount spent. Maybe that's where the problem lies. Budgetary implementation has never been hundred percent, especially the capital expenditure.

Even at that, any critical mind taking your quoted budgetary figures holistically would know that the 'ungovernable' Boko Haram strategy intensified in those years that the figures spiked.

One would be completely out of his/her mind to say Buhari or Nigerians should not ask questions from past administrations officials. And he has been asking, even though some of them are not questions but outright judgment passed on people 'presumed innocent' until proven guilty by a court.

But no one should be under any grand illusion that Buhari can't be asked questions as well. We are in a democracy, we will continue to ask Buhari questions.

Be that as it may, we would like to make comparison between the over N2bn that Buhari's spokesman admitted that they have actually spent on the presidential fleet in less than 6 months and the actual amount spent for the entire 2014 (a total of 12 months) on the same presidential fleet.

We would also call on the national assembly to promptly commence an investigation into the alleged 'missing' and 're-appearance' of about 105 Nigerian soldiers.

How does reposting the article change the confusion you were ravaged with regarding the new contention over the $1billion? Or does it change the fact that GEJ has roped himself into a fix with his denial despite Dasuki's assertion that acknowledgement letters were received for funds he claims were unapproved.

Next time read to understand and not to wail.

Arguing with you is a waste of my knowledge. If those states are suffering, isn't it the failing of the federal government? PDP ruled for 16 years, if those states' governors made their people suffer, who controls Efcc? ICPC?

Dude shut up if you have no valid point to make. What model or policy did your party give when they were in opposition? Wasn't it the same money laundering that went on in all the states? The only difference was who keeps the cash cow.....you are a hypocrite.
