Court Summons Assemblies Of God Church Pastor Over Forgery Allegation - by ezebunafo(m): 8:30am On Nov 26, 2015
A former Board of Trustees member of the Assemblies of God Church, Reverend Paul Emeka, has been asked to appear before an Upper Area Court of the Federal Capital Territory over allegation of forgery.

Reverend Emeka, according to the court summon dated November 16, 2015, is expected to be arraigned onDecember 1.

The accused person, who is also a former General Suprintendent of the church, was accused of forging his professorial certificate from the University of Derby, Derbyshire, England.

According to the criminal complaint to the court filed by Barrister Ifeanyichukwu Obasi-Nweze on behalf of the church, Rev. Emeka presented himself to the church as a professor from University of Derby, Derbyshire, England and based on that he was promoted to become a member of the Board of Trustees of the church.

The church further said sometimes on January‎ 15, 2015, after investigating his professorial certificate, it was found to be forged.

According to the document made available to newsmen, the university said there is no record of any Paul Emeka in the University’s Conferment Committee Archives.

Following the discovery of the church, the Reverend was removed as a member of Board of Trustees and also reported the matter to the police for investigation and prosecution.

The police has completed investigation into the matter and is expected to appear before the court on December 1, 2015 with the report when Rev. Emeka is also expected to be arraigned.

A letter from the court to the office of the Inspector-General of Police, signed by the Registrar of the court, reads in part: “I am directed by the judge of the above named Court to write to your office and request for the police investigation report from the above mentioned matter that was complained to your office by the above named complainant that is now undergoing an investigation by your office.
