Nigeria and France are to share intelligence following concerns about terrorist threats. The two countries and others are pursuing international collaboration towards tackling threats from groups, such as Boko Haram and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).As part of the move, French Chief of Defence Intelligence Maj-Gen. Christophe Gomert yesterday led a seven-man delegation to a closed meeting with Nigeria’s top defence and military intelligence officials at the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) and Defence Headquarters in Abuja. Before their meeting at the DIA, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, AVM Monday Morgan, said Nigeria required France’s assistance, especially in the setting up of a new department for gathering geo-spatial intelligence.AVM Morgan said.”We sympathise withFrance on the recent terrorist incident. Nigeria understands what you are going through because we have the same nuisance in our hands.’’He added that President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to France initiated moves for military cooperation.“In Dakar, we discussed how to ensure Francophone countries’ active involvement; our countries’ collaboration is paramount to winning the war against Boko Haram.“We anticipate that from now, we’ll see daily intelligence-sharing and other measures to enhance our operations inthe Northeast,” AVM Morgan stated.Responding, Maj.-Gen. Gomert said the meeting in Dakar was fruitful and that itwas significant for the two nations to discuss how to tackle Boko Haram and share intelligence. The delegation, among others, discussed training exchanges for capacity development, monitoring of terrorists’ sources of weapons and logistics, addressing challenges in some Francophone countries’ military and intelligence operations. At the Defence Headquarters, Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin, who was represented by AVM Umar Omeiza, assured the French team of Nigeria’s stance to ensure the effectiveness of their military and intelligence-gathering collaboration.Present at the meeting at Defence Headquarters included representatives of military services chiefs, directors from the Ministry of Defence and seniormilitary officers.

Why not share intelligence with ISIS or Russia?

France is playing a game where it will get seriously burned if it trusts Nigeria to give them real time intelligence on Islamists.
Those transferring that intelligence are Boko haram moles in Nigerian security. Just in case it is too difficult for France to figure.
