Seconds out! Wladimir Klitschko and Tyson Fury fought it out for the boxing heavyweight championship of the world in Dusseldorf, Germany, and there could only be one winner. Congrats to Tyson for becoming the new heavyweight champion of the world! It was the fight we’d all been waiting for, and it nearly never happened, but finally Ukrainian boxing legend Wladimir Klitschko , 39, and British challenger Tyson Fury , 27, squared off against each other in the ring on Nov. 28 at the ESPRIT Arena. Well done, Tyson, for defeating your nearest rival after 12 pulsating rounds! The fight started in typically cagey fashion, with both Wladimir and Tyson feeling each other out in the first three rounds. Tyson perhaps had the edge on Wladimir, landing more punches on his experienced opponent, who had fiancée Hayden Panettiere cheering him on in the crowd. In round 5, a nasty cut appeared underneath Wladimir’s left eye, after both fighters knocked heads. At that point, Tyson appeared to be edging the fight as the champ struggled to gain any fluidity in his movement and punches. Fury continued his domination into the 6th and 7th round as Wladimir toiled to get the better of his opponent, instead opting to tactically hold Tyson as his ringside team urged their boxer to look for a knockout. In round 9, both fighters landed their best punches. Wladimir caught Tyson with a blow to the chin with his right hand, while Tyson rocked Wladimir with a right hook that left the champ rocking on his legs. The final three rounds became a slugging fest, with both fighters tiring and failing to land any substantial punches. The fight was to be decided on points after 12 rounds of boxing, and was awarded in favor of Tyson!
