Nigeria Senate President Bukola Saraki on Monday, December 21, met with a delegation of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) headed by Mr. Waheed Odusile, the National President of the organization. In their discussion, the NUJ asked for legislative support to ensure the robust engagement of journalists in the Nigerian project. The Senate President in his response, reassured the NUJ that the 8th Senate will continue to do everything possible to ensure that the freedom of the press as guaranteed by the Constitution and the laws of Nigeria continue to be upheld. "Journalists and the news media played a vital role in securing the 'Change' that we clamoured for during elections, and their work is crucial to ensuring accountable and transparent governance." Saraki added. Sure to raise the issue of anti-social media bill, probably make input to make it nonmedia restrictive, lest they will have to construct more prison yards |

My Observation; 1. From the four pictures listed above Saraki never even made eye contact with the NUJ head even when the man wanted to shake him showing that they have already decided on what to do irrespective of the visit from NUJ. 2. The shaking of hands between the two was brief, meaning that Saraki doesn't value the man. 1 Like 1 Share |

The issue of social media bill should be discussed extensively, people should be allowed to air their opinion on the various social media platforms. Freedom of speech is what made us to be able to vote out the past administration and it has really helped our democracy. Any society that will grow must allow constructive criticism from its citizens. If what the present administration is not performing we should be able to talk, am not against enforcing law against false propaganda but we should not use the law to witch hunt the opposition or ordinarily citizens. Come to thinking of it, if we can't speak in our country where are we expected to speak and be heard. In other news Kindly take a few minutes to vote my baby in the ongoing #CussonsBabyMoments competition , still short of over 1000 votes but with your votes if he don't ignore this message, it is still possible to win. click on this link to vote my Baby https://cussonsbabymoments.com/details/578. The Media Institution in Nigeria is similar to the Nigerian Police force. 1: They are fully aware of their role in democracy - Responsible, Truthful and Unbiased Reporting 2: They are a dime in a dozen - they are easily swayed bu Authority Figures, Corrupt Influences and Group Pressure 3: They have a high sense of Self-Importance and Worth but cannot leverage this when it comes to Representing Truth and Justice There are few (very few) exceptions to the norm.. but they are potential martyrs in this game of deception and misguidance 1 Like 1 Share |
