10. He Once Totaled A $200,000 Ferrari

Back in 2009, Ronaldo was involved in an accident near Manchester where he lost control of his Ferrari 599 in a tunnel. Despite the car looking nearly as bad as Brazil’s World Cup loss to Germany, Ronaldo somehow escaped unscathed.

After adding ‘crashing a Ferrari’ on his long list of achievements, it looks like Ronaldo is going to be involved in a tug of war between football heaven and automobile hell.

No need to feel too sorry for Ronaldo though. With all the money he earns from being the second-highest paid athlete in the world, he probably has a garage full of back-up super-cars and hyper-jets just in case of an incident like this.

9. Bullfighting Ad Leads To Trouble With Animal Rights Activists

When you earn approximately $28 million annually in endorsements, alone, you know you’ll be promoting a variety of unheard products. Now getting paid to promote some random product isn’t that bad of a gig, unless you’re Ronaldo and the company paying your salary decides to portray you as a bullfighter.

In 2008, Ronaldo starred in a television commercial for Fuji Xerox in which he portrayed a bullfighter who taunted a bull with a ball rather than a matador cape. As bullfighting is banned and illegal in many countries, animal rights activists had a field day in condemning Ronaldo, Fuji Xerox, and the ad.


8. Expelled From School At 14 For Throwing A Chair At A Teacher



Before he became a worldwide superstar, Ronaldo was just a gifted but poor boy. He shared a room with his family and was a popular student at school. But Ronaldo, himself, later stated that he was just ‘not interested in school’ and his attention was solely devoted to football. Rather than sucking it up and enduring a few years of school, Ronaldo instead got himself expelled by throwing a chair at a teacher.

His excuse for throwing the chair? The teacher apparently “disrespected” him. Yeah…

Luckily, everything worked out for him as expulsion from school meant that he could focus entirely on his football and the rest is now history.
