WAITING FOR TOMORROW

Children basked around
Loud echoes filled the auditorium
The principal in high pitch said to the outgoing students
"You are the leaders of tomorrow"

Days turned into weeks
And weeks into months
Months accumalated into Years
Still the voice rings
"You are the leaders of tomorrow"

Tenure after tenure
Each with their empty promises
With voice claiming to be true they echoed
"You are the leaders of tomorrow"

Election came, with it its numerous campaigns
With each campaigns, numerous promises
They protested about their warfare but once again were told
"You are the leaders of tomorrow"

So each went back to his house
In the open secret of their room they sat
Their chins resting on their able hands
All at sixty,
Still waiting for tomorrow
