How did Moses manage to write about his death and burial in the first five books of the bible. Abrahamic religions, world greatest illusion.

Deuteronomy 34
The Death of Moses
34 Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah, across from Jericho. There the Lord showed him the whole land—from Gilead to Dan, 2 all of Naphtali, the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Mediterranean Sea, 3 the Negev and the whole region from the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms, as far as Zoar. 4 Then the Lord said to him, “This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross over into it.”

5 And Moses the servant of the Lord died there in Moab, as the Lord had said. 6 He buried him in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, but to this day no one knows where his grave is. 7 Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone. 8 The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days, until the time of weeping and mourning was over.

9 Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the Lord had commanded Moses.

10 Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, 11 who did all those signs and wonders the Lord sent him to do in Egypt—to Pharaoh and to all his officials and to his whole land. 12 For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.

It is a rather theological take by Abrahamic beliefs to hold moses as the writer of the Torah other than a historical one.

The Torah is written in third person, the different style usage, similarities with older myths around, repetitions and varying methods have led Modern Historicity to deduct the Torah was written by no fewer than 4 different sources at varying timelines before ever being compiled into one book..

The Torah is actually more of a Theological book for Mosaic codec led religion or nation (Israeli) not historical

If, upon your death, someone were to take your journal or personal memoirs and add a short description of your death, you would still be considered the author of the biography.

At the time of the writing, Books of the Bible were contained on scrolls. The ending of one Book and the beginning of the next were not clearly delineated, i.e. the end of one Book could appear as the beginning of another Book in a different scroll without hurting the integrity of the text. In modern translations there are many instances where the last verse is considered the first verse of the next chapter in the Jewish text.

Thus, the last chapter of Deuteronomy could as easily be considered the first chapter of Joshua without harming the integrity of the text. It's plausible that Joshua filled that part since God transferred authority over to him after Moses, it could also be someone else - the author has been disputed to be certain others (Ezra, Eliazar or another for different reasons), it wasn't explicitly stated who exactly (Joshua being more plausible tho...because of the reasons stated earlier). However, whoever it was, it was actually implied that another writer completed the story of Moses after his death; 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (where it was stated that the scriptures were subject to divine inspiration, correction and reproof) and Deuteronomy 31:9 (where it was stated that Moses handed over his works to the Levitical priests before his death) + whatever reasons those other writers I mentioned were thought to have recorded it instead of Joshua.

Bottom line is that a different author filled in the part of Moses' death in Deuteronomy 34, but it's not sufficient enough to discredit Moses from being the author of Deuteronomy. Just as the first poster said, it's a theological take and not a historical one to put Moses as the author of the entire Deuteronomy (since it records his death cheesy )

BTW, menesheh...if this question was to learn this information, here's your answer. But if you're an aethist who's just trying to point out "inconsistencies" after looking at a single Chapter, just know this isn't going to take you anywhere..trust me cheesy

Am looking for where Moses wrote about his death and burial. because we are told Moses returned with Elijah in Revelation and were killed by the Antichrist.

These two didn't die, so came back and died.
Nobody saw Moses die, No one saw his corpse.

Because Moses isn't the author of the pentateuch. Check this for more info. http://www.biblicalnonsense.com/chapter12.html

@Menesheh,

Intelligent Answer: Moses could not have written the first 5 books of the bible, it was written by someone else!!!

slowpoke Answer: With god, all things are possible, after all, god could have introduced Moses to the concept of Time Travel, just like in the movie "BACK TO THE FUTURE", so Moses traveled to the future to witness his own burial!!!

BONUS: The second answer can never come from the mouth of an Atheist, likewise the first answer can never come from the mouth of a christian!!!

cc school of theology

lemme add, Moses was the only civilized man among them at that period who has the best of education, and other things that would give him the opportunity to foresee and with accuracy know what actually happened, Moses spent much time fellowshipping with God, and that's not a big deal for him to know somethings that God knows, at least, all he just have to do is ask, or be inspired

Acts 7:22 And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.

You think that Moses had to write every single word in the PENTATEUCH?

Who wrote"THE BOOKS OF MOSES" in completely unimpirtsnt,.

The ability to read THE LOGOS WORD OF GOD behind every RHEMA WRITTEN WORD is important.
